Ares is now 14.5, and his skin is becoming more sensitive with age. He also has an extremely thick undercoat that gets matted easily as it sheds a bit more this time of year. So, now he has a shaved part of his haunches. I've shaved the bad areas a couple of times in the past, and I actually need to shave back just a little more this time, but he'd reached his voluntary limit yesterday and I didn't want to force him further. Oh, the indignity a shaved backside.

Weasley showed up at my house as a CDS feral delivery in the spring of 2021. He slowly came to trust me and became my stray cat buddy. I had his trouble puffs removed in Summer of 2022, and he walked into my house of his own accord in December of 2023. He got to live out his last 2 years as a pampered lap cat. I don't know how old he was, but per the vet, he was at least 13, but probably older. He had lots of arthritis, FIV+, a heart condition (which is what I believe killed him, took lasix twice a day), and bad teeth (which I couldn't fix due to his age and his heart/health conditions).

I will miss you, my dear sweet boy. I know you and Osiris (passed in September) didn't really get along (Old Mr. Grumpy Pants didn't like anyone much) but you shared lap space a lot in the last 2 years. I hope he's waiting to curl up with you again over the rainbow bridge.
