I just don't get why people view him and Spongebob as an "iconic duo". Like yes, they're friends, but like...he's not even that good of a person, let alone friend.

At best, he's just being silly with Spongebob. At worst, he's just a completely awful person. There are very few moments where's he's actually doing something decent (the only example I could think of is that one scene from "A Squid-tastic Journey" when he figures out how to save him and Spongebob).

Also, for a character that is seemingly meant to be a comic relief sidekick, he's just not that funny to me. Most of his jokes just seem to rely on him eating a bunch and then burping or something. I just don't get it.
