Anyone know how long background checks are taking right now?

Particularly for a GUR unit. This is my second contract and I’ve heard the second time around they don’t take as long but was wondering how true that is. Don’t particularly want to be sitting around for months waiting doing nothing

Cheers 🫡

Strangest thing you’ve seen on the front?

For me probably a ruzkie lighting a cigarette using the burning corpse of his mate

Also was almost sure I saw a leshyy once after 48 hours without sleep but that one is a little less believable than the shit the russians get up to

Diagnosing Fuel Sender - Am I on the right track?

G’day gents,

Picked up an E36 a few days ago. Been tinkering with what I can to fix some smaller issues and diagnose some things. One issue is the fuel gauge being stuck on E. Did a gauge sweep test and it worked fine, so I know it’s not a problem with the gauge.

Now testing both fuel level senders. Left side reporter 130ish Ohms, seems normal. One on the right (unit with the pump) gives reports around the 300 ohm range. To my understanding the maximum reading should be 250.

Where should I go from here? I’m gonna try pull out the sender and pump unit tonight and see if there’s anything obvious wrong in terms of loose wiring. Bar that, should I cut my losses and try find a new sender/pump unit? How much should I expect that to set me back? (In Ukraine.)

Thanks!

Buying an E36 / M40B18 - Anything extra I should know?

Привіт, Hello!

I’m in Ukraine and found a nice looking E36 for around 1600 Euros. Comes with the M40B18 engine. I know it’s not the fastest but it can be swapped out later so that’s not the biggest worry in the world for me.

Is there any extra advice you’d give to a first time BMW owner? I know to be on the lookout for rust, and be careful about timing belt changes too. Any other suggestions or helpful advice would be much appreciated!)

Cheers!

Any of you guys had luck registering a car here?

G’day,

Plan on having a month or so off in Kyiv before heading off to new unit, take some time to see a bit of the country and whatnot. Was just wondering for those that’ve bought a car how you went about registering it in your name?

If it was some shitbox Lada that I was only gonna drive around Donbas to the local Okko I wouldn’t mind, but I plan on using whatever I get as my daily around the city so dunno what issues I might face if I don’t get all my documents and shit sorted.

As far as I know I just show up to the TSC with the fella I’m buying the car off and fill out some forms. Would appreciate any advice tho from someone who’s done it before.

Do I need to inform a potential employer of an overseas conviction during the interview process?

Привіт/Kia Ora,

I’m a Kiwi who’s been serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine for around 18 months. Last year, a russian court sentenced me in absentia to 14 years prison for allegedly “violating the constitution of the Donetsk People’s Republic” due to my military service in Ukraine.

I obviously have no intention of ever entering russian-controlled territory after the war, but I’m wondering whether something like this would legally need to be disclosed to a potential employer in New Zealand during hiring/interview processes.

As far as I understand, this is not a New Zealand conviction and does not appear on a New Zealand criminal record check, but I’m unsure whether there are any legal disclosure obligations when asked about overseas convictions.

Would appreciate any insight)
