Chaos Redux events: 001 - Communist Insurgency
I’m going to start making Reddit posts about Chaos Redux events every 72 hours, starting with Event 001: Communist Insurgency.
Let me know if you’re excited for this and if I should keep doing these for every event until release. The mod is planned to have around 150 events on release, and most of them have deep mechanics, evolutions, hidden paths, achievements, world-end scenarios, connections to other events, and much more. Some events are smaller, so some posts will feature multiple events together.
The current goal is to get Chaos Redux released by the end of August, hopefully.
If you want to help out, you can become a tester. I made a video on how to become one here:

Event 001 in Chaos Redux is Communist Insurgency.
The event starts a communist insurgency inside eligible non-communist countries. It adds a national communist pressure idea, gives the country some starting communist support, and creates the first communist-controlled state.
Communist control is handled at the state level. A controlled state can be at one of three levels:
Agitation Zone — early communist activity. The state has local unrest, propaganda, strikes, and light disruption. This level can be cleared with local intervention.
Insurgent Stronghold — stronger communist control. The state is harder to recover and can cause more serious disruption.
Communist Lockdown — the state is effectively under revolutionary control. Local intervention can suppress it, but cannot fully clear it.
Each communist-controlled state increases daily communist support. More controlled states also raise the overall revolutionary threat.
The player can respond with several decisions.
Disrupt Communist Organizing reduces communist support at the national level.
Local Military Intervention targets a specific controlled state. It costs command power, manpower, and infantry equipment. Level 1 states are easier to clear. Level 2 states are harder. Level 3 states can only be suppressed militarily.
The insurgency can also trigger disruption events in controlled states, including industry sabotage and coordinated strikes.
If the crisis grows severe enough, the country can receive a revolutionary war warning.
The main emergency response is Emergency Intervention. This is a national decision that affects all communist-controlled states. It costs political power, command power, manpower, infantry equipment, stability, and war support.
Emergency Intervention can restore control, but it can also trigger a communist uprising.
If an uprising happens, the rebel country is created from selected communist-controlled states. Level 3 states are prioritized first, then Level 2, then Level 1. The rebel army scales with factors like state control level, industry, population, communist support, revolutionary threat, and country strength.
The event has three evolution stages.
Unstable Revolutionary Activity enables rare surprise revolt incidents.
Dark Worker Rituals unlocks once a Level 2 state exists at the required chaos tier. It enables rare worker ritual incidents that can disrupt controlled states and increase communist pressure. !
Whispers of the World Revolution unlocks once a Level 3 state exists at the required chaos tier. It unlocks World Revolution for the major-event pool and allows later incidents to add World Revolution weight.
A country exits the system once the grace period has passed, it has no communist-controlled states, it is not fighting communist rebels, and communist support is low enough.

Next up: Event 002 — Zombie Outbreak.
That one is going to be a bigger post, since Zombie Outbreak has a lot more mechanics and details to cover.
