Should I not release the snail I’ve been caring for?

Hi! I’ve been caring for this snail for a few weeks (found with a damaged shell) I was planning to release it into the wild again before I leave the country for a few days because I obviously won’t be around to mist and feed for those days and I can’t just drop her off at the doggy resort like I do with my dogs haha. Anyway since having this snail I’ve grown such a fascination and have been reading a lot about them and reading in this subreddit. I just read something about how you should not release a snail back into the wild after having it in captivity? Is that actually true?
I took this snail in to give it a better chance at life. I have grown so attached to her and her well being. If releasing her back into the wild would be bad for her I’ll make it work and keep them safe and cared for.
I was seeing something about it also potentially being a risk for other wild snails to release one that’s been captive even if it started out as a wild snail? I feel dumb, I should have looked into all of this before I took her in, I just wasn’t really thinking beyond being worried it wouldn’t survive on its own with the amount of shell damage.

All of that being said, the snail has improved dramatically. Her shell went from being not only damaged but small and dull to being vibrant, striped, strong and noticeably larger. So at the end of the day, whatever needs to be done I’m happy she’s doing so much better than she was.

Leaning in

No questions or advice dropping- just sharing my experience and excitement :)

I have been feeling Hecate reaching out to me for over a year now. The signs I received from her were intense, physical, hard to ignore, but I didn’t really do much about it. I read about her, and then just stopped thinking about it.
But recently she started coming back into my mind again, I was seeing more signs and synchronicities and began leaning into it and thinking about her more, reading more about her. And then I had my moment of doubt, I thought- maybe I’m being crazy, maybe I’m making things up or overthinking? And then I had a sort of branch-off thought about how I actually don’t remember the last time I saw a fully black dog.
The next day, I took a hidden walking path to the farmers market (not a lot of people know about it so it’s usually empty, or I just see one or two people at most)
That day it was empty for a while until I saw somebody in the distance but realized they weren’t walking towards me they were just standing next to a dog. I got closer and it was a big all black dog. As I reached them the dog immediately walked up to me and jumped up (so gently) and put her paws on my shoulders and kissed my face, her owner was profusely apologizing and seemed embarrassed, insisted her dog didn’t do that but I reassured her I was absolutely fine with it, my dog does the same thing when she wants hugs and kisses and I love love love dogs.
She told me they’d lost her frisbee behind the chain link fence on the side of the trail. I offered to climb over and get it but she heavily insisted I didn’t and said I’d ruin my outfit (I also didn’t want to freak her out because she seemed very well put together and type A personality, like if I actually climbed that fence into the bushes for her dog toy she might have thought I was insane)
And then she told me they’d actually lost it a week ago but walk that trail every morning and her dog always stops and stares at it and she has a hard time getting her to keep walking (which made me so much sadder)
Anyway- we parted ways and I went to the market and grabbed what I needed and decided on my way back if nobody was around I’d just scale the fence, grab it and leave it on the side of the trail in hopes they would find it the next day.
As I came up on the spot where I knew it was I noticed a giant hole in the fence, I couldn’t believe I didn’t see it before (or her for that matter) it was probably 100 feet away from the spot where the frisbee was, so I left my bags, crawled through and made it through the brush to the frisbee and back out. As I left it on the side of the walking path I just felt so accomplished and happy at the idea of that sweet dog getting to find the toy tomorrow. As I started walking away it hit me that this dog that has just had such a big impact on my morning was a big black dog. And I just felt this weird overwhelming sense of joy and comfort and it felt like this complete knowing that she was there.

Anyway, maybe I am being crazy but I’ve been feeling so much lighter since I’ve been paying attention and leaning into all of this. I’ve continued reading and I just bought a Hecate statue to place in the center of my altar, I’m so looking forward to working with her and building this relationship.

Hail Hecate
