AIO about my boyfriend's opinion on airplanes
My boyfriend has very strong opinions about airplanes and their contribution towards pollution, and climate change. He refuses to get on one unless absolutely necessary (for example, only for intercontinental travel).
We are currently planning a trip to India, where we'll be travelling to the NorthEast region. The thing is that the region is huge, politically volatile, not particularly well connected with the rest of the country, and thus, travel takes a long time. We have limited time and want to go to places that are quite far apart (6+ hours) within the region.
I suggested that we could take a flight to one major city in the region, and then travel locally by trains/buses and then we could take the train back from the region to Delhi.
He flat out refused, and said stuff like, no I will not take a plane. I would rather stay in Delhi the entire time, or that I would go to some other state rather than the NorthEast.
Planes are really a dealbreaker for him.
I also lost my cool and told him that I respect his beliefs but he should also be practical about time constraints and other logistics. I said he's being childish and immature for being so stubborn and he said he doesn't want to cause environmental damage for tourism.
We haven't spoken now in two days, and he refused to pick up my calls. In retaliation, i blocked him from most socials last night (currently it's been less than 24hours since the blocking).
Did I overreact?
