Firefighting central TN

Hello! My entire family has lived in TN for the last 5 years. I stayed in the Columbus Ohio area because of what my current job has to offer. As time has gone on and my partner and I now have our first child, we have considered relocating our family to be closer to my parents and siblings in TN (my wife’s parents would move as well).

That being said, I would be looking into Franklin FD or Nashville FD. I understand their pay might not be as great as what I have here (Columbus Ohio) but was wondering if anyone has either of their departments current contracts they would be willing to DM me? This way I could compare contracts, understand benefits packages, look into TN retirement system, etc…

I’m currently a FF/Paramedic and my city runs a combined system. 24/48 schedule with Kelly day every 3 weeks. I have it nice here but it’s always great to be closer to family.

Thank you!

I’ve been getting the itch to get into cycling, but I can’t justify spending nearly $1,000 on a bike right now—especially for a hobby I’m just starting.

My question is: is it possible to turn a vintage bike into a proper road bike? I understand it won’t compare to a modern $1,000+ road bike, but I’m looking for something I can comfortably ride 20 miles on for exercise and still enjoy.

I’ve included a photo above of the bike I’m considering.

I’m also 6’5” with a 36” inseam, so finding used bikes on Marketplace has been pretty limited.

If this is possible and not a waste of money, what should I focus on when upgrading the bike? I’d like to keep my total “fix-up” budget around $300.

Thank you!

Hey all!

I’ve had a great itch to get into cycling, but can’t justify spending nearly $1000 on one at the moment. Especially if it’s a new hobby I want to pick up.

My question: is it possible to turn a vintage bike into a proper road bike? I understand it would not be of high quality as a modern $1000+ road bike. But something I’d like to ride 20miles on if I felt like it, for great exercise, and have a great time simultaneously.

And Image of the bicycle im looking at is listed above.

I’m also 6’5 with a 36in inseam so finding used bikes are marketplace are a bit limited…

IF this is possible and not a waste of money, what should I focus on when it clans to upgrading the bike? I’d like to keep my fixer-up limit around the $300 mark.

Thank you!
