Scott Foil RC 2022 seat post clamp

I just bought a used Scott Foil from 2022. I took out the seat post and the clamp entirely and cleaned everything to apply new carbon paste. When I took out the clamp it seemed to be just one screw. However then I tried to tighten it and it just did not feel right. The screw almost gave away quite quickly. I did not find any manual and when I looked a spare parts for the clamp (to understand it) I started thinking that this visible screw is just a cover for an actual screw underneath. Now I am afraid that I overtighened the cover screw. Any one have the same bike or some advice? The screw already looks and feels a bit worn so I am really afraid of doing something irreversibly wrong…

Ride what you got OR 🚴?

I’m a runner (3 years experience / 3:30 marathon) trying to get into cycling for no-pound zone 2 benefits short term or immediate and ironman in 5-7 years timeline (learning swimming as an adult is 😭).

I currently have this hybrid (or I think it is) that my friend just gifted me when he got his carbon fibre bike. This as you can expect is on the heavier side but is something I can ride. I have never tried a drop bar (just learned the term today), never went close to carbon fibre (except when cyclists ride close enough to hit me while on my run). I know how to ride is all and max I have gone is 30 km/hr on this bike last summer. I run 10+ hours a week, so I can put in the time if my mind likes the activity.

Do I need a more expensive bike?- I can afford it (if Im able to sell the idea to the wife who wants me to ride this bike for 1 month to make sure this sensation is not fleeting). I could spend around $5,000 (Canadian/ around $3800 USD) and live in Toronto with ride potential for 6 months at best.

Appreciate all of you, I think if you 🏃‍♂️🚴‍♀️🏊‍♂️, you are a badass - love and respect, happy riding ♥️!

Front derailleur

Hey i am working on my front derailleur on my 105 shimano system on my bianchi roadbike .. I feel like the wire is too short ? Is there a trick ?
the old systems were much easier in my opinion .. and yes I have been on youtube and watched videos about it , and i can say a lot about them but most are not very positive

Scored a Free Bike!

A client and I were discussing cycling and she mentioned that she quit riding after having knee and hip replacement and if she does ride it’s going to be on her mountain bike. The conversation went towards what bicycle she rode, and then she told me that she considered selling it and that being that it was older, but she didn’t want to deal with it. And said she would want to see it go to someone who would use it. So I’m now the new to me owner of a 2009 Felt z25. She mentioned it cost her over $3000 and had been sitting for around 5 years. After getting it home and giving it a thorough wash, I was amazed at how well it actually works. As it sits, it’s a size 54, 18lbs and that’s with a gel padded seat. It’s all 10spd Dura Ace except the cranks are carbon FSA SLK. Good thing the woman was tall and 54 is my size! I’ve ordered a different seat as well as bar tape but will look for different bars as well as I don’t like the shape of these. Only bad part now is I have to wait till Saturday to go on a ride, must have been my lucky day. Cheers!

Help me with my first Roadbike purchase

Halllooooo

Currently wanna get into roadcycling here in Denmark and I think I have narroweed it down to pretty much two different options but I am a bit unsure what is the best option longterm and for me to have the most enjoyable and fun time.

Option A:
2024 Orbea Orca M20iTeam - 3750 euro

Option B:
2026 Orbea Orca M30I - 2800 euro

I think the main two differences here is that the M20iTeam comes with Di2 Ultegra and Carbon wheels which Option B the M30I does not.

the M30I comes with Alloy wheels so my thought was spending a year on the Alloy wheels and next season upgrading to a set of Carbon wheels, which then will put the Option B bike to around the same price as the Option A was initially.

Would love to hear what fellow bikers think

First Bike

Want to do an Ironman in a year or so. I’m looking to get my first bike. I have some biking experience as I mountain bike a few times a month. Is 1000 good for this giant propel bike?? Around 2016, full carbon. Carbon hybrid deep profile wheels, ultegra components.

Is this a good deal for a first time cyclist at £200

Looking to get my first road bike and also have no equipment.

This is a second hand deal I’ve seen I’ll lasted details and what’s included below. All in its £200

BTWIN Triban 500, Turbo trainer, GoPro, Shimano shoes

BTWIN 500 road bike in excellent condition. Many extras. Carbon fibre forks, aluminium frame
Giant turbo trainer
Shimano clip in shoes, rarely used. Fits me at size 9
Clip in pedals fitted with originals as spare
Three spare tubes, toolkit, brake pads, saddle bag
Airwave pump, Zefal metal bottle, gel saddle cover
Kryptonite led front and back lights. Both rechargeable
Race blade Pro guards which are quick release
Wireless speedo, timer, mileage, clock
BTWIN helmet with GoPro and 64gb sd card
Frame size: centre of crank to top of seat tube is 52cm

I am a total beginner and I don’t think I’ll be able to find anything comparable with so much equipment as I would have to buy helmet , lights etc

Need advice - First road bike purchase

Hello all, will keep it short. I am buying my first road bike, and want advice about if this one is a good place to start? It is used from a reputable seller in my area. He is asking $500. I truly don't know anything about road bikes, so be honest with me! (For reference, I bike around 10 miles at a time on my commuter, and am just looking for an upgrade to get into cycling on a budget).

He says the wheels are very nice, but again, I don't know about brands and such. According to the website, it is exactly my size. Frame is 58 cm, and I am 6'1.

Need advice - Fuji Sportif 2.3 for $350

To keep it short - I am looking to get my first real road bike. Trying to steer away from vintage based on previous post's advice. Thoughts on this for $350? Appears to be in good shape from a guy who didn't ride it much.

Not looking for a triathlon bike persey, but want to get a decent deal on a bike that will be a big upgrade from my commuter.

Size 58 cm and I am 6'1.

Which road bike should I get for my first triathlon?

Hello everyone!

I'm a student so my budget is a bit limited but I got a good offer on the following four bikes:

  1. Sava Vegur 2.0
  2. Merida Scultura Endurance 300
  3. KTM Revelator Alto Pro
  4. Polygon Strattos S7D 700C

I would really appreciate it if more experienced cyclers could share their experiences and advise me on which one I should get!

Thank you :)

New to me… tips on upgrades/sizing

Just picked up this Focus Izalco Pro 2012. Put around 100 miles on it over the last few weeks and have been loving it but I am ready to start upgrading it. Currently have only changed the handlebar tape and the tubes (these tires are probably around 8 years old) current set is 700x23cc. I want to upgrade to the Conti GC 5000 in a 700x28cc, will this fit? I tried to attach photos of the clearance. I honestly would’ve wanted a new rim set but I think its too expensive and since I am a new rider I dont know if it would make a huge difference.

Also, any good upgrades you think I should do? Currently I have my eyes on clip in pedals, and already ordered a new saddle bag with the whole flat tire set up ready to go!

Thanks for any advice!!
