My father runs a small tailoring boutique in Dibba, Fujairah. There was a dispute regarding non-payment of shop rent (around 22,000 AED), and he was asked to come to the police station a few days ago. Since then, we found out that he has been detained and is currently in Dibba Fujairah jail/police custody for the last 2–3 days.

The problem is that only my sister is there in the UAE right now, and she has not been allowed to properly meet or speak with him. When she tried asking the police for information, they said they do not speak English, so communication has become very difficult.

We are extremely worried and don’t know how these cases usually work in the UAE. Is this considered a civil/rental issue or something more serious? What steps should we take immediately?Can indian consulate help in such cases?
