wrapping up dnd with my friends and i hear scratching sounds from her tank only to find her climbing up her decor! evil animal!!!

normally whenever she sheds, she does it in her humid hide which has a privacy wall that prevents me from watching. for the first time ever, she decided to use the testi kebab hide which allowed me a firsthand look at her shed last night! so cool to see!

Scrimshaw has a beautiful 40 gallon filled with rocks and branches to climb, dirt to dig through, plants to play in, five different hides to choose from, is given plenty of food and water, and given a new interesting object to investigate every night, but it's not enough. It's never enough. No, his teenage mood swings insists that he needs to glass-surf like a neglected animal and demand to be held every night like a love-starved toddler. boy u piss me off

well, scrimshaw has entered his teenage phase. demanding, cranky, insistent, grumpy, bossy. glass surfing despite the fact that i regularly update and add things to his tank to keep it interesting. growling at me when im holding him "wrong" (despite the fact that he crawled on my hand in a way that put him into that "wrong" way), insistent and possessive about his food (barking at me when i reached in to pick up a mealworm that escaped). i'm sure he'll calm down in a year or two but it's pretty funny seeing how sassy he can get compared to how shy he was as a baby

I've had Scrimshaw since back in mid-April, he's maybe about 6 months old at this point. I've handled him a few times before to ensure he's not gonna freak out and get used to the idea that I'm not going to hurt him if I have to grab him for any reason like an emergency or vet visit but otherwise have left him alone other than feeding general maintenance. Last night while I was watching youtube on my TV I heard him scratching at the glass, something he's never done before, and got up to check on him. He kept staring at me so I opened the door and he just walked onto my hand! Didn't even think twice about it! Well... turns out he just wanted to watch what I was watching because he kept adjusting his position in my hands and shoulder to look at the screen 😮‍💨 I know he likes watching TV too because he always comes out to look, but I didn't realize his newfound screentime addiction was making him so confident. Kids these days...

Scrimshaw went from a dark grey-purple to being greenish-yellow in just five weeks!! First pic is his baby photo from where I got him in mid-April, last picture is from this week. Currently he's just over 5 inches and weighs 17 grams, so he's still just a baby. Can't wait to see how he continues to change!

for some reason the calcium i use (zoo med repti-calcium without D3) feels so clumpy, no matter how much i crush up the clumps, it never really feels like it's sticking to my bugs and just falls off of them instead of coating them whenever i shake them up in it. did i just get a bad batch of calcium dust, am i dusting wrong, or should i use a different supplier? i don't think he's interested in licking up the calcium i leave for him in a dish either because it never needs to be refilled
