Should I prep for SAT as an Indian student
Hello, this is my first time posting on reddit. I have been thinking about this for a long time. Any insights or advice would be appreciated.
I am a 15 year old studying in 10th grade. I will be giving my boards exam in February 2027. I have always been very good at academics since primary school, have a bunch of medals in many maths, science, english and IT olympiads, some art medals, and am a 9th Homi Bhabha Silver medalist.
Maths is my favorite subject and I am very good at science.
So my main focus has always been IIT JEE. I have prepared for it since 6th grade. But now as I am getting more exposure to the outside world and exposure to the reality of Indian education system and preparing for IIT, even though I am studious I think neither IIT nor JEE is for me. Neet or any other exam was never an option. Then in 9th I discovered SAT. I am also very good at english. I am ferocious reader and have read 150+books, including Jane Austen and Arthur Conan Doyle. After intensive research( researching is my habit) I thought wow! This is for me. I have so much love for the subjects covered in SAT I think I could study daily for hours without tiring. I could have fun studying and get an access to the best of colleges. I recently had a meeting with a top tier counsellor and she laid my thoughts out in front of my parents. She told me bluntly that my talent could be better nurtured abroad. I am better made for that given my interests and aptitude test results. She even told me to maintain IIT JEE for my plan B. I am patriotic but still have always struggled in the education system with my Rancho type ideas. After the meeting my Father who had been reluctant about SAT before admitted that he was just unsure about sending his daughter abroad before under graduation. He completely supports me now. If you think I should give SAT a description of what I have to do except for studies like research and essays and case studies or anything else to increase scholarship or acceptance chance, tips and tricks, reference books will be appreciated. I am neither overconfident nor boasting, I don't even know if I will get bare minimum marks, just want the best opportunities for myself and want to make the best of this one life I have been given
Edit: My parents are both doctors and even though we are not rich we are financially well off and my parents are willing to go to the end of the world for my education and career.
