Why am I still not getting clients on Upwork even after boosting my profile and sending proposals?

I really need some honest advice from experienced freelancers here.

I’m a Flutter developer with around 3+ years of experience and I’ve worked on 25+ real-world apps including real-time apps, Firebase integrations, APIs, chat systems, OTT apps, booking apps, etc.

I recently improved my Upwork profile, turned ON the availability badge, and I’m also boosting proposals with 5 connects per click. My profile is getting views and some clients even invite me, but the problem is:

  • Most proposals don’t convert into hires
  • Even after clients view my proposal, they usually don’t reply
  • Some clients invite me, but still don’t hire me
  • I’ve sent 22 proposals recently and only got 2 interviews
  • I only have 3 jobs completed on Upwork right now

I’m attaching my profile screenshots and stats as well because I genuinely want feedback on what I might be doing wrong.

I want to know:

  • Is my profile weak somewhere?
  • Is my pricing too low or too high?
  • Are my proposals the problem?
  • Should I keep spending connects on boosting?
  • Or should I focus somewhere else outside Upwork?

I’m honestly trying hard and spending a lot of time on Upwork, but I’m not seeing good results yet. I’d really appreciate practical suggestions from people who have already gone through this phase.

Thanks in advance 🙌

I have 3 years of Flutter experience, worked on many real projects, but my salary is extremely low. What should I focus on next?

Hello everyone,

I really need some honest career advice because I am feeling very confused right now.

I recently completed college, and for the last 3 years I have been working continuously in Flutter development. During college, I was mostly focused on learning and gaining experience, not on money. But now I want to improve my career seriously because my current salary is extremely low compared to the amount of work I have done.

Right now my yearly package is around 1 LPA, and honestly it feels very disappointing after working this hard for years.

I started working in 2023 and mostly worked on Flutter apps. At first I learned the basics and UI development, but later I started working on real client projects and production apps.

I have worked on many types of applications including:

  • Ride booking apps
  • Food delivery apps
  • Doctor consultation apps
  • Astrology apps
  • OTT streaming apps
  • Social media apps
  • Multi-vendor platforms
  • Marketplace apps
  • Boat booking app
  • Car rental app
  • Pet care app
  • Education platform
  • Safety companion app
  • Wallet and payment systems
  • Video calling and real-time features
  • Android and iOS publishing

I have also worked on:

  • Firebase
  • REST APIs
  • Play Store publishing
  • App Store publishing
  • Bug fixing
  • Redesigning apps
  • Client customization work
  • Multi-app ecosystems with User, Driver, Vendor, Doctor, Merchant, and Admin flows

Most of my experience comes from working in a solutions company where we handled many real-world projects, fixed production bugs, customized apps for clients, and published apps to stores.

Currently I am trying two things:

  1. Growing on Upwork and getting direct clients
  2. Searching for a better full-time job

The problem is that I do not know what I should focus on next to increase my income properly.

Should I:

  • Continue focusing only on Flutter?
  • Learn native Android or iOS?
  • Learn backend development?
  • Learn AI integration?
  • Focus completely on freelancing?
  • Improve DSA and switch companies?
  • Build a stronger personal brand and LinkedIn?
  • Move toward startup/product companies instead of service companies?

I only want to use the next 1–2 months properly so that I can finally move toward a much better career and salary.

I would genuinely appreciate advice from experienced developers, freelancers, or hiring managers because right now I feel stuck and confused even after working very hard for years.

Thank you for reading.
