Had my final interview about two weeks ago for Sr. Data Scientist position. Went fairly well. Recruiter reached out to me the next Tuesday evening (ie, last Tuesday) to tell me they’ll be finishing up interviews that week and will have a final decision by early the next week (ie, this past Monday/Tuesday). Recruiter also said to update them if I move onto final rounds anywhere else.
Monday/Tuesday comes and goes, nothing. Wednesday morning comes and I’m moved to final rounds elsewhere. I send recruiter an email asking for an update and stating I’ve been moved to final rounds elsewhere. Two days go by, no response. I sent one final follow up email asking for an update this morning aaaand it seems like that’s not getting responded to either.
I’m just so frustrated. I know going through *FOUR ROUNDS*, nearly 2 months, plus a takehome assignment does not guarantee a job but it should guarantee the basic courtesy of being responded to. Job is still up and active so I have no idea what’s going on. My best guess is I’m the second choice and they’re negotiating with the first choice right now.
At what point does it become appropriate to email the HM directly? At what point does it become appropriate to straight up call the recruiter?

Hi all,
Had final interview for senior level position just shy of two weeks ago now. Employer told me the Tuesday thereafter (so last Tuesday) I was the first final interview, that they’d be wrapping up the final interviews by end of that week, and they’d be debriefing to make final decisions about offers early the next week (ie, this week). They asked about where I was in any other interview process, to which I told them I’m about halfway through some others. They thanked me and told me to update them if that changes and they’d have “more details shortly”
Yesterday morning, I emailed them to ask for an update and informed them I have been moved to final round interviews with another employer. Nothing, no response. If I don’t hear anything back by EOD today I’m just assuming they went with someone else.
Am I cooked? Or are they genuinely still getting this stuff worked through the corporate powers that be? It’s not a particularly massive company.

Hi all,
Interviewing for a quantitative scientist position at Verana. Any thoughts, opinions, reviews, experiences, etc?
I’ve never worked with them personally but I do know many of the people at other companies I’m also interviewing with have come from Verana. Beyond that, I got nothing.
Hi all,
I applied to a Sr. Outcomes Data Scientist position at a mid-sized biotech last December. Interviewed in Jan, made it to the takehome technical and dropped after that in Feb.
The job has since been reposted several times (this will have been the third time it was reposted after my initial attempt) evidently without any luck finding a new candidate. Being nearly six months after I initially applied, I decided to give it another shot with a different workday account (it’s the exact same job, I could see it under the inactive tab of my workday account).
It is with a different recruiter (different person contacted me for the screener) and, I assume, the same hiring manager. I intend on disclosing pretty much immediately at the screen. What’s the etiquette here? What’s the chance I won’t just immediately be dropped again?

Hi all,
There’s a company that closely collaborates with my employer that has posted a position that I think I’d be a good fit for.
A rather senior colleague that I have worked with on a few different projects (I’ve met with one on one, he definitely knows who I am, what I do, etc etc) that is on their board of directors. What’s the etiquette of asking for a referral? Is it as simple as attaching the workday link in an email and going “Hi Dr. So and So, can I be referred to the hiring manager for this position?”
Not sure whether to keep the bookcase on the left there or move it to the basement, but this is how it’s looking right now.
I am so excited for our first Christmas in this house. Unsure of the exact age of the house but 1881 is per the MLS.
Hi all,
Anxious data scientist here. Had my final 4-person panel interview for the Sr. Data Scientist (RWE/Biotech) position on Thursday. I think it went well, but the wait is killing me. For each interview stage (recruiter screen, HM, technical), I’ve been invited to the next stage either the very start of the next business day or later that day. They’re zooming me through. I know this requires way more deliberation so I know a next day result isn’t realistic.
The rounds were honestly shockingly easy. Each of the four interviews were 30 mins long.
Engineering: This was the most underwhelming. I was just asked about my experience with OMOP/SNOMED/LOINC, Epic Clarity, experience with AI, and a time where I had to work around unclear data labelling (yes, gave STAR answer).
Medical Director: Was asked about how I how I’ve interacted with clinical personnel, how I’ve influenced clinical decision making, how I’ve presented surprising findings. I spend a large portion of my time on teams dominated by MDs so this wasn’t hard. Was also asked about my take why their company, from a personal philosophy perspective. I found one of their old webinars a couple days prior that gave the exact answer they were looking for (to which I paraphrased).
Research Leadership: Shortest, was assessing for cultural fit. Mainly on my work style, what sort of organization I work best in, probing at how I deal with disparate teams, how I prioritize different requirements. Questions stopped after 15-20 mins, just talked about a bunch of things after. Only question I was unclear on how it landed was “where do you see yourself in 5 years?” I gave the HM’s name and said I’d like their position, *driving the data wing into new therapeutic areas and diseases*, including my old PhD area of specialty. I’m unsure if this was too Business Dev-y of an answer.
Senior Leadership: Had a very jovial conversation. I was able to use their back catalogue of webinars that talked about their products and services to be able to tailor my answers to broader questions about applicability. I think I stumbled on one question about my thoughts about why there’s a gap between technology and clinical care delivery on the side of the physician.
Genuinely unsure about it. I’m more confident about this final round than I have been with others, but man I don’t know. The questions all felt way easier than I was expecting, to the point it’s making me second guess myself. This could be very good or very bad, I’m genuinely unsure. I work at an HCP so this would be life changing for me, double my base pay and triple my total comp.
Any thoughts? I’m anticipating I’ll hear something Monday.

I’m curious of how often this happens. I’m Canadian, I’ve been on a couple visas in the U.S., now a LPR/Green Card holder so that’s all behind me. Biotech is obviously a field in which there are quite a number of foreign nationals and immigrants working. With sponsorship becoming an absolutely poisonous topic in the past 1.5 years, even moreso than before, how often do applicants indicate they need sponsorship?
I have noticed cap exempt employers explicitly stating they don’t sponsor anymore AND pretty much everyone is explicitly stating they no longer take OPT either. Roughly, give or take, how often do people require sponsorship?
I recently got everything all approved. GC came in the mail last weekend, all good. The I-485 approval notice and the subsequent green card was sent to my lawyer and everything was sent to me, no issues.
However, the I-130 was sent to the wrong address. We moved March 15th, the notice date on the I-130 is April 15th. We logged the Change of Address for both the I-130 and I-485 on March 15th. I have the receipt for the change of address confirmation dated March 15th. The I-130 notice has our old address on it. I was only able to get it because I kept on informed delivery for my old address for this exact reason and had to go and ask the new tenant for the letter. The I-485 and I-130 approval notices now have different addresses. Yes, I have the confirmation receipt for change of address for both the I-130 and I-485 in my email inbox. Yes, I checked that this was updated in my USCIS account at the time to make sure it updated the mailing address for both I-130 and I-485. Everything went through fine.
Did USCIS goof up here? Is there something that I need to do?
Hi all,
I have a 4 person round robin final for a Sr. Data Scientist position at a biotech tomorrow. I have been given the names of each interviewer and what they are interviewing for (ie, technical acumen, cultural fit, stakeholder relationships, etc…). I got Claude to scrape the internet for all information about the interviewers, what they are interviewing for, and give me a live Q&A with feedback on every question to practice. I keyed the difficulty to “8-8.5/10” so I didn’t fall into AI sycophantism.
Anyone else do/has done this? Has it been useful? Generally, how accurate has it been?
