Getting back into film!

Getting back into film!

Hi all!!

I used to be heavily into photography when I was 18/19 (now 26) and I am desperate to get back into the hobby (I am fortunate where my job takes me all over the Scottish highlands).

Currently trying to get back into the jist of things with my trusty old Nikon D700 but today after organising my attic I stumbled across my beautiful Canon AE-1 that I dearly miss!

I’m wondering what the current day is like for film photography. I used to love shooting with Ektar 100, Gold 200 and Ultramax 400 but the price of film seems to have skyrocketed over the 8 years since I last touched the camera.

Unfortunately it has also developed the shutter squeak but clock oil is en route to sort that problem out.

I’m curious if anyone has any suggestions for any other brands of film that may be on the cheaper side for me to burn through while I get used to shooting film again.

Cheers - Also photo of the beauty in question with my late grandads Zeiss Ikon Contina J in the background!
