I’m Building a Pokémon Emerald Online Multiplayer Experience for the 3DS
Pokémon Emerald has always been one of my favorite Pokémon games, and I’d still argue it’s one of the best in the series.
I also spent a ton of time playing PokeMMO, which eventually got me thinking: could I build my own online version of Emerald, but actually have it run on a Nintendo 3DS?
So that’s what I’ve been working on.
Pokémon Emerald Online 3DS is my attempt at bringing an online, MMO-style Emerald experience to actual 3DS hardware. It’s still in beta, but it’s far enough along now that I’m looking for more people to jump in, test it out, break things, find bugs, and give me ideas for where to take it next.
If you still have a 3DS laying around, especially if you’re into Emerald, Gen III, PokeMMO, or 3DS homebrew, I’d love for you to give it a try.
There’s still a lot I want to add, but getting this working on the 3DS at all has been a really fun challenge.
