Can we talk about the Rascal for a minute? Maybe an Hour?

Can we talk about the Rascal for a minute? Maybe an Hour?

Embark has been going on a really annoying tear of fixing their game recently. From improving weapon durability to implementing Anticheat to clarifying matchmaking parameters, it's seriously hampered my rampantly cynical, terminally online mind.

Thankfully we've got one thing left that we can milk on main sub.

The Rascal: The worst thing since 9/11.

A single shot launcher for blue? Really Embark? Even the nesting field mice in my walls agree this should've been green. 3 Heavy Gun Parts to make? Do I look like I'm shopping anywhere but an Aldi's in this economy? Too expensive!

This weapon alone makes me want to go back and play Minecraft Story Mode for the 23rd time. Just the thought of having an arc killer that's easier to find in raid makes my blood boil. Why can't we have an explosive that's for PVP? Ignoring of course the nearly dozen grenade options made explicitly for that.

In conclusion my Kirkland brand chicken wraps just finished microwaving so I have to go. Fix your game Embark!!!

Put one image of Nidhogg 1 at the end because it's impossible to talk about the second without discussing the first game.

Where do I even start with this... the first game had a sleek Atari style with extremely simple rapier-dueling gameplay and manic speed that led it to become one of the best bite-sized fighting games of its time. It was easy to pick up and hard to master, and the sleek simple pixels and well-designed stages gave it an eerie yet beautiful feeling.

Then Nidhogg 2 is announced and holy hell the blowback was immediate and immense. The simple style was gone, replaced with some of the most garish and grotesque "budget party game" designs that, at that time, weren't as commonplace as they are now. While character were customizable, the entire game looked like the gorey closeups of Modern Spongebob stretched over rejected guts-filled Muppets. What made it worse was that the developers had the utmost faith in this change, and even said they would've had the first game looking like it if not for technical restraints at the time.

I mean we get a big new beach map and we don't get to see the most iconic facet of Myrtle Beach? It's just really odd that with the ruined hotel we don't get the obvious award-winning seafood buffet known for its extensive selection of fresh seafood, including crab legs, shrimp, and oysters, alongside a carving station with prime rib and other options like a hibachi bar, salads, and a large dessert bar.

I'm a bit disappointed at how small the map feels, and thought that it'd be a lot more similar to how big the entirety of Cyberpunk 2077 felt in size.
