Bruce Lee's original birth certificate

Bruce Lee's birth certificate, showing his birth at the Hour of the Dragon, in the Year of the Dragon.

There are many versions on the meaning of Bruce Lee's birth name - Lee Jun Fan. This is how the Bruce Lee Foundation articulates it in his biography: “The true meaning of Bruce’s name—JUN FAN—was ‘to arouse and make FAN (the United States) prosperous.’

As the story goes, Bruce was bestowed his English name by a member of the medical staff in the delivery room at the Chinese Hospital. Bruce's father would later explain to immigration officials that he couldn't pronounce his son's American name. More interesting still....Bruce was entirely unaware that he even had an English name until his early teens.

Bruce describing pre JKD/JKD as a martial art, system, method, style, an art.

It is known that Bruce was againat styles since they are fixed ideas of combat, JKD is a martial art that adapts according to the various circumstances in combat. Bruce has called jkd a style of no style, yet he never described JKD as a philosophy or a philosophical idea for martial arts.

International Convention, Why? With Bruce Lee

In June of 1968, a group of known martial artist teachers including Bruce Lee of gung fu/Jeet Kune do, Dick Taylor of Aikido, Harold Sharp of Judo, Maki Miyahara of Kendo and Tsutomu Ohshima of Karate where they gathered at the offices of Black Belt magazine where they discussed the common problems martial art schools face and the pros and cons of having a martial art convention.

Bruce believed the convention would be good to expose phonies, a way to help others explore others arts and should learn more then one art.

What is everyone's take/understanding of Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do?

I notice that even though JKD is one of the most known martial arts in the world, it is one of the most misunderstood and debated topics when it comes to it’s training, evolution and what Bruce had in mind for it. Would like to know other people's take on it and if anyone has questions about JKD, feel free to ask and I shall answer it the best way possible.
