Help with a sentence from Grandet-Matthieu (Chapter 21, Exercise 1)

Help with a sentence from Grandet-Matthieu (Chapter 21, Exercise 1)

I'm struggling to translate this sentence :

Cours d'égyptien hiéroglyphique, Grandet-Matthieu, Chapter 21, Exercise 1

  • Transliteration : jw=f ḥr wmn t 500 rmn n(y) jw' m jwf
  • Translation : He is eating 500 loaves of bread and beef shoulder <???> .

I don't understand the last part -- m jwf (litt. in meat ?). Is it saying something like "and as for meat, he is eating beef shoulder" ? If it's the case, I don't understand this construction. If it's something else, what is it ?

Thanks !

A sentence from Grandet-Mathieu (Chapter 16, Exercice 1)

We're asked to transliterate and then translate the following sentence :

https://preview.redd.it/9wdudrkc38ch1.png?width=425&format=png&auto=webp&s=a5ed9fcee633d44bc1c2a1ac87dad3805e5bd448

Transliteration : jw=tw r šn(j).t s.t r pr-ḥḏ

  • Is my transliteration correct ?
  • If so, what is the dependent pronoun s.t doing here ? Shouldn't it be =s instead ? Or is it something else ?

Translation : We (french "on") are going to ask about <something something> the Treasury.

Any suggestions ?

That Book That Started It All (Ben Syversen)

A documentary on the life and works of Al-H̬wārizmī (he writes Al-H̬wārazmī). I don't know enough about the subject to say if it's historically accurate or not -- as usual with this kind of figures, it's easy to get stuff wrong.
