Tape advice?

I’ve inherited my Dad’s Teac, and just got it back from service.

These tapes were my Dad’s and I’ve been through them all. I think I was hoping to find something more remarkable, but didn’t. Some radio broadcasts, and dubs from vinyl records that I also have. He’d often record at 3-3/4”, so the quality isn’t great. The Sony PR-150 tapes, 10 of them are unused, but the 4 that are used didn’t sound good, and were very squeaky.

I think I’ll use the 7” Agfa reels to dub some favourite albums, or mixtapes of stuff that remind me of Dad. I’m not sure what to do with the 5” Sony reels? They’re unused, but the used ones sounded awful. They date from the late 60’s. Have always been stored in a cool place.

Why is there no O.7mm 4B lead refill from Pilot, Pentel, or Uni?

Logic tells me that it would be less prone to breaking than the 0.5mm 4B that I love.

Inheriting my Dad’s Teac

I’ve just lost my Dad. In fact his funeral was today. My mum recently asked if I wanted this. I desperately do, but have no idea where I’ll put it, or what I’ll do with it. You see, it was my Dad’s, and I wasn’t allowed to touch it as a kid. I don’t think it’s been used since the 80’s. Can anyone point me to any good tutorials on how to use it, and how to maintain it?

How common is Elite No. 8 (11 characters per inch) on Olympia SM3 and SM9?

I’m realising both my 1956 SM3 and 1968 SM9 have this same type face.

Seller listed for $300. Bought for $100AUD.

Current collection:
1968 Olympia SM9
1956 Olympia SM3
196? Olympia SF
196? Olympia SF Cursive
1968 Olivetti Lettera 32
1962 Olivetti Lettera 22 Salmon Pink
1960 Remington Travel-Riter Deluxe

Would still like to check out:
Smith Corona Silent Super
Smith Corona Skywriter
Olympia Splendid
Hermes 3000
Torpedo 18 (Had a Blue Bird but foolishly sold it)
Olivetti Studio 44
Royal Quiet Deluxe

But that would make 14 typewriters, and that would be silly.
