What was your salary after one year?

Is 138k too low with one year experience? The annual raises are really not a lot at this company and I’m wondering if the increase in providers is causing the pay to decrease.

Which mortgage offer would you choose?

5.9% with PMI and 3.5% down.

7.6% no money down and no PMI and rate reduction of 0.25% every 6 months for $250 as long as the market rate is below the current rate you have.

Mother started drinking again

My mother has had issues with alcohol her whole life. Last year, it was so bad that when she didn’t answer the phone for 3 days , I drove to check on her and she was walking around in the cold not knowing where she was covered in feces. I took her to the hospital and she was there for a few weeks then to a rehab due to issues walking. She had been diagnosed with encephalopathy while in the hospital and was withdrawing with DT’s. After about a month she started to clear up, enjoy things without alcohol and our relationship got better. Well just last week she wasn’t answering her phone and I knew something was up. Went to see her and she was drunk. She knew that if she started drinking again that was it for me. I can’t deal with it emotionally and can’t babysit her. I have my own life to live. I’m in my 40s. 3 medical professionals told her that if she drinks again she will die. I called a lawyer to see if I could get a guardianship and the cost is outrageous so I’m not doing that. She won’t move from the neighborhood with all the drinkers and refused to get a new apartment in a better area which was covered when the opportunity came up. I haven’t talked to her in 5 days and part of me feels guilty but also relief that I don’t have to deal with babysitting her since she lives an hr away. She is alone and I’m pretty much the only one who was bending over backward to stay on top of her well being.

I’ve tried everything to convince her and get her to move and she refused. I don’t think there are any other options than let her live the way she wants to at this point.
