Brunswick Mountain – Smoke Visibility & Conditions Request (IRTR)

Hi everyone, looking for recent conditions for Brunswick Mountain.

(IRTR) Required Details:

Intended Route: Standard trail from Lions Bay trailhead to Brunswick Mountain summit and back (~15 km, 1,550m gain).

Sources Exhausted: Checked Lions Bay AQI sensors, recent AllTrails reviews (none mention current 24-hour smoke visibility), Instagram location tags for Lions Bay/Howe Sound, and recent sub posts.

Type of Activity: Day hike

Experience Level: Experienced with steep SW BC trails, high elevation gain, and exposed scrambles

Question:
Has anyone been up Brunswick or neighbouring Howe Sound Crest peaks (like Mt. Harvey or Tunnel Bluffs) in the last 24–48 hours? Looking to see if the wildfire smoke/haze is washing out the views from the summit ridge.

Thanks in advance!

Recommendations for Wednesday, July 8th | Transit or Easy Access (Done Harvey/Chief)

Hey everyone, I'm looking for some hike suggestions for this coming Wednesday, July 8th, and wanted to get some opinions based on my current transportation constraints.
Experience/Fitness Level: I am a fit, experienced hiker. I have completed Mount Harvey and all three peaks of the Stawamus Chief, so I am very comfortable with steep elevation gains and light, technical scrambling.

I have been reading recent trip reports on here and checking AllTrails conditions to see how the early snowpack melt is looking.

I was originally planning to do Brunswick Mountain, but my hiking partners who are capable of that level of terrain are unavailable for a Wednesday. I then looked into Watersprite Lake, but I don't have access to a 4x4—my only option this Wednesday is using an Evo or taking transit. Since I know an Evo absolutely cannot handle the Skookum FSR to Watersprite, that option is out.

What I'm looking for:
I would love some recommendations for a solo Wednesday hike that matches the difficulty/reward profile of Harvey or the Chief, but fits one of these two criteria:

  1. Directly transit-accessible from the Lower Mainland.
  2. Accessible via an Evo (meaning the trailhead is fully paved or on a very well-maintained, standard 2WD gravel road where I can safely park without violating car-share boundaries).
I'm looking for amazing alpine views, ridge walks, or spectacular lakes. Thank you so much for the help!
