Like many others i buy buy to lets in a ltd company with a mortgage. I'm asked by the mortgage company to for myself, a witness and an independent solicitor to sign the document to say it's been understood. Previously i'd go to a small, local solicitor, it would take 10 minutes to read through and make sure it's been understood and cost around £50.

Unfortunately this solicitor has retired and i've been getting quotes for the work coming in at £500-£600.

I'm just wondering what anybody else has been paying and what experiences you've had over this?
