1993 VT1100c project bike fuel help
Hi all, I got a 1993 Honda shadow VT1100c as a project bike for cheap. The previous owner said that the engine sputtered out and died, with no mechanical grinding or cranking. They also told me that they sold the fuel pump off it to someone else. My question is, does this bike actually have a fuel pump/need one?
Currently, the fuel hose from the gas tank petcock goes down underneath the bike into a fuel filter and goes back up again into the carbs. It doesn't look like there is any room to put a fuel pump in nor can I find any wiring for it on the bike. In this image, the hose that is circled connects to the black cylinder there. On my bike, the hose out of that black cylinder, that is going down between the two piston heads is not connected to anything else.
I am hearing and seeing different things from different sources. One source is saying that this bike never had a fuel pump and the loose hose connects to a nipple on the other side of the gas tank to make a vaccuum of some sort. Another source is saying there should be a spot somewhere to mount the fuel pump and the loose hose is a atmosphere vent hose and the empty nipple on the tank is also a vent.
