1996 Honda Shadow VT1100C2 idles perfectly but dies when I give it throttle.

Hey everyone,
I’m hoping someone with experience on the Honda Shadow VT1100 can point me in the right direction because I’m stumped.

The bike had been sitting for several years before I got it. I’ve been slowly bringing it back to life.

So far I’ve:

Removed and thoroughly cleaned both carburetors.

Cleaned the jets and passages.

Installed a new fuel pump.

Verified the bike starts and will idle.

Adjusted the idle speed to a steady idle using the remote idle adjustment knob.

Current symptoms
Starts without much trouble.

Idles indefinitely and never stalls while just sitting.

Fuel pump clicks every few seconds while idling (not continuously).

The moment I begin opening the throttle, the engine bogs and dies.

It doesn’t matter whether I snap the throttle open or roll it on slowly—the result is the same.

I also get some popping from the exhaust.

I got hugged by a semi. I need to resurrect my baby.

On Oct 1st last year a Semi decided I needed a hug and turned into me.

After a pole vaulting trophy and someone singing "Staying Alive" while I laid down for a while, followed by some wee woo, then some pokey, stitchy, blood stoppy and someone yelling "CLEAR", I got to whoop whoop 5 hours away to more pokey, stichey, blood stoppey with added nuts and bolts, I'm mobile-ish now.

I got my ride home. She's like me. Damaged but resurrect-able.

I need forks, suspension, radiator, handle bars, blinkers, headlight and bucket, controls. Maybe some other odds and ends.

Anyone have some good places to find what I need? I've been hunting around but some of the prices are obscene. Like, price of the whole bike or a new engine obscene. It doesn't need to be painted, I'm going to redo my original custom style. Bare metal is fine. Thanks for your help!

Oil level Honda shadow 600

Hi, I’ve bought a 1993 shadow vt600c vlx imported from the us to Sweden in 1993. The previous owner has done the maintenance himself but I wanted to double check everything and I’ve noticed that the level on the dipstick with the bike upright is way over the indication levels. With the bike on the stand it is right on the top level of the dipstick but if I’ve understood the manual correct it should be upright and not on the stand when checking the level. Is this a problem and should I suck some out until the level is correct with the bike upright?

What is truly necessary on a 750?

I am looking at possibly stripping my build of all “unnecessary” electronics and stuff, really want to make it a super super simple bike with as minimal wiring and hoses as possible, this would be on an 05 750 spirit that is california compliant

She finally runs again!

So i bought this bike months back, got it home it ran and drove. Though had issues like bad bushing in the bars and the struts, rotting tire, bad light and a dirty carb. I decided to due a full carb rebuild with an upgrade and I finished taking the carb off and cleaning it, when I went to swap the exhaust a piece of the head came off. Long story short i took it to a mechanic to fix the head and it was a nightmare and we eventually went over and picked up the bike, once back home the heads were good but the carb was on backwards, fuel lines missing, tank bolt missing just a lot of little things. Today I finally got it running, she needs a tune and a chain since the old one was rusted but she is home. Plan to clean it up more and go even more minimal but not full chopper as I plan on using this as a bike for me and my gf to explore on.

Please help. I’m on my last straw with this thing.

My clutch died a few weeks ago and I been trying to bring it back with new plates and stuff but this pressure plate won’t sit flush anymore and it’s preventing the lever arm from having space to hit the plates so it glazes all the time. Im about to just let it sit for a month or so until I can save up for a shop visit. Please help anyone.

Am I missing a piece?

I have an ‘03 Honda Shadow Spirit. I have to remove the carb to clean it and I noticed that one side is missing the gold colored pin that is located right next to a connector. Both sides have plugs that would fit onto said pin, but the right side side is missing the pin. You can see the plug that goes over the pin in the fourth picture in the bottom left corner. I couldn’t seem to find it on a parts website for the bike. Any help is appreciated!

Hello reddit, I’ve had some mileage issues with my bike I recently purchased.

Hello Reddit, I recently bought a 2001 vt1100c3 shadow and I’m loving it so far. From my research it’s advertised around 240 kilometres minimum before having to switch to reserve. I’ve ended up stalling on the road twice now both at 160 kilometres and haven’t been able to pass that without needing reserve. Even switching to reserve takes a good minute before I can start it up again. Both times I’ve put about 12 litres in after driving immediately to a gas station. When I bough it I was told that the exhaust is an aftermarket but the rest is stock, I can’t see an exhaust causing 80 kilometres of lost fuel. Any advice?

Chopper build

I've been wanting to do a chopper build on my Honda shadow but I'm quickly realizing my biggest problem is the vt750 isn't a Softail it has a swingarm, and I can't find a hardtail conversion kit online for the 03 vt750 ace, I'm wondering if anyone has done a true hardtail conversion on one of these. I don't like the look of the tjbc struts, if anyone has done a real hardtail conversion can you send pictures and tell me what it's gonna take

Is it possible to lower the stance of a 600 without removing the shock.

I have 1997 600 and want to give it a chopper look. I want to remove the original back fender and install a cobra seat and high sissy bar without hardtailing it. What are my options, how can I achieve that?

Signals Not Working

I just installed led signal lights on my 2008 Honda shadow 750 aero. Immediately after I installed them I accidentally let the battery die and it blew a fuse that controlled my speedometer and odometer, the running lights on my front signals work but when I try to use them they do not flash

Any ideas for this seat gap?

I fix a vtx 1300 seat on my shadow ace 750 any ideas with what to do about the gap?

I was thinking of pulling the seat cover back and cutting it and adding some metal to force it down

I was also thinking maybe I could put some small Easter egg type detail in there and not even worry about the gap

Any ideas are appreciated!
