I saw the call like a week ago and the main form is closed, is there any way I could still audition besides being scouted for the project?

So basically I was gonna get the IPad mini 7 at Best Buy for around $200 because I was gonna buy it open box and I have $200 credit from a return. I would use it for school (note taking), extracurriculars (sheet music), and mostly reading. Should I get it right now or wait until September for the new one. I don’t wanna buy it now and then trade it in later.
