Are Wacom X cables always junk? DTC133

I have a Wacom DTC1333 and it is has been in my possession for a long time. Over the years, the HDMI function started to die on me, making the screen flicker on and off especially when I would move around the angled plug that goes into the tablet itself. The drawing feature worked fine along with pen pressure, just nothing to see on the screen. Sometime probably around this time last year I bought a new one from the wacom website and I was thrilled to have a fully working X cable. A couple of months ago the same problem started to happen again, and two nights ago the problem was so bad I bought an off brand in sheer frustration. It arrived today and of course, no display on the tablet, so I returned it and got the refund issued. I then bought the one from the wacom website a half hour ago. Is this a common issue with these X cables? I can't really seem to find people having any similar situations online. I just hate the idea of having to buy another one of these stupid things every year now. Maybe there is a better option for better caring for my cables? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :)
