Reports are coming in today from Tel Aviv and I believe Houston that all appointments for handing over certificates of citizenship are cancelled. People were told after they'd already arrived that their appointment was cancelled and there is no ability to schedule a new one without further explanation.

I've only seen reports from Israelis and there is speculation that it has to do with the Chinese fraud in 116 applications uncovered recently that involved forged Israeli documents.

Just received the much-awaited email today, thank you to everyone in this group!!!

Timeline:

December 2024 - Submitted to Tel Aviv Embassy

February 2025 - Email from embassy that application forwarded to BVA

August 2026 - Email on acceptance of application.

AKZ: Never received from BVA but it indicates March 2025

Came across an odd case: a current resident of Germany applied for and received citizenship under 116(2). During the process they had a child (in Germany) but didn't add them to the application. Now they want citizenship for the child.

Had they not lived in Germany clearly they would need to start from scratch. However, the text of the constitution in 116(2) states that a resident of Germany who qualifies under 116(2) for citizenship is considered as if their citizenship was never retracted in the first place. So under that, the child could plausibly already be a citizen.

Has anyone seen a similar case?
