Hi everyone, I need some legal advice.

My uncle recently took the Aadhaar card copies and passport-size photos of my mom, me, my brother, and my grandmother. He said it was for the Jan Ganana (census), but I found out the census usually doesn't require these documents.

The reason I'm worried is because our family has ancestral property where a 6-floor building is currently being constructed, and the plan is to rent it out.

A few years ago, my uncle wanted to sell the land, but I opposed it and suggested reconstructing it instead. We had a major fight over this.

Now he says my mother will get only 30% and he will take 70%. My mother is the eldest daughter. My maternal grandfather passed away in 2021 and he did not leave a will. As far as I understand, under Hindu inheritance law, the legal heirs should get equal shares. Am I understanding this correctly?

My mother has schizophrenia, and because of domestic violence from my biological father, we came to live with my maternal grandparents when we were very young. My father's family abandoned us, and my parents were never legally divorced.

None of us have signed any property papers. He only took our Aadhaar copies and passport-size photos.

Can Aadhaar copies and passport-size photos alone be used to affect our share in the property? Is it legally possible for my uncle to simply take 70% while giving my mother only 30% if there is no will? We are in India.
