Rod/Reel Set up
Hello,
I want to plan a surprise getaway for my 3 boys (all 12 years old) to go muskie fishing. We live in Northeast, OH and they fish nearly every day.
They have nice rods and reels for what they currently fish for, but I overheard them saying muskies require a considerably stronger rod and reel.
I have no idea what to buy as far as the rod, reel, line, and bait. I do believe I overheard them say that the bait alone is heavy.
Is there a go-to recommendation that would be right for 12 year olds that really would appreciate and use them?
I did do a quick search and was a little sticker shocked at what was pulling up.
I don't want to cheap out, but am I looking at 5-600 each kid?
I am confident that they will care for and be able to handle whatever set up is best, but what is that??
I could flat out ask them, but I want it to be a surprise.
