Tiger Muskie

Tiger Muskie

Iridescent blue/silver Tiger Muskie replica of this beautiful fish I caught and released from a small 310 acres, deep glacier lake in the U.P Michigan. Lake is full of Northern Pike and walleyes. Lake was never stocked with Muskies to my knowledge, although Michigan did stock hybrids from Michigan fish hatcheries back in 1990’s
Maybe someone released Muskies into this lake.

Lake is full of northern pike and the walleye’s have the same blueish color. Never hooked a Muskie or had a follow before hooking this trophy.

Bought an okuma Evx on marketplace, eyelets don’t line up properly?

Is this a feature or has my rod somehow become cockeyed?

Susquehanna River, Upstate NY

Very happy to be able to target Muskie again after a week of rain dropped the water temperature back down to the low 70s. I caught this 38” beauty on a double bladed maribou spinner I made, and then lost the lure to the river shortly after.

This is the second Muskie I’ve caught that was previously tagged by the Department of Environmental Conservation. They had a tagging program here about 10 years ago and it seems there are still a healthy population of Muskie in the Southern Tier area of the Susquehanna River.

Esox overhead

Throwback photo. This was a surprise winter fish while crawling bottom for river smallmouth. Bit a black and blue Poor Boy's "Eerie Darter" on a Slider Head. Was a small fish by muskie standards, but the slick reflections in cold water gave it some character. Fox River, northern Illinois

First 2 (tiger) muskies, 8/11 and 8/13

I’ve been hitting this spot for a while trying to get a musky and finally got one on Tuesday (first pic) came in at 30”. Went back Thursday and got another one, 37” (second pic). First one was caught on a 4 inch soft plastic swimbait and the other one was on a 3.75” glide. I was alone catching the second one and ended up in the water breaking my line and wrestling it for about a 8 minute total fight. Pretty fun getting them in on bass gear too, 7’3 MH rod and Abu Voltiq SX (last pic)

Confused about gear

So I want a rod to throw medium size baits 2-10OZ
And a 2nd rod to throw 10-24 oz

I was thinking medium size - st.croix tournament musky
Large size - assault stick 20/20 shock and awe

I have no clue what reels either I was hoping to start a debate about what reels those 2 rods should be equipped with or if they should be switch out completely any help is appreciated!

First Musky! 40.5” on a guided trip

Super stoked to catch my first musky!

Normally I have some gripes with guided trips, but as someone who got into fishing later in life I’ve accepted it’s a great way to learn new styles and techniques I’ve never seen before. This trip was really neat, it was my first time using electronics. We were using livescope in total darkness and getting these baits within an inch of the fish. I actually struggled a bit to keep the bait just close enough without touching the fish. We probably worked 50 fish with plenty of follows and a missed bite before I finally got my retrieve perfect. Landed with sucker right off the boat ramp with 5 minutes of trip left.

This trip gave me plenty of ideas about how to catch one by myself out the canoe. Gonna be a tall order with no electronics, since my home lake is super heavily pressured, but knowing they’re tangible I’ll have no shortage of motivation. Reset the counter, 10,000 more casts to go.

Bass Pro Shops Predator Musky Rod cork handle leaves orange residue

I got a new Bass Pro Shops Predator Musky rod. I was removing the plastic wrapping on the handles and noticed some dusty film on the plastic so I decided to and rub the handle with a wet paper towel. The orange brown paper towel is shown in the photo. The handle changed from a light beige with almost no cork pattern showing to showing the cork pattern fully. Does anyone have any idea what's coming off the handle, and whether or not I made a mistake rubbing the orange stuff off?

The end of a rivalry

About 45 inches long. By far the hardest fighter i’ve had yet.

I’ve made contact with this fish 7 times previously. Every single time, I missed it (much like the first 2 strikes from her today. (Video of it on my instagram))

Absolute honor to catch this monster.

As always, white, silver, red mepps musky killer in the Susquehanna river.

The other 2 times she chased today were with a giant killer and a ski hunt double blade. All same color.

Till next time

French river musky

Finally got my first musky on the French river trolling a depth raider. Has anyone else found the fishing to be especially hard this year? I put in probably 30 hours this past weekend and didn’t have a single follow and was lucky getting this trolling.

Any ideas to catch more pike/musky?

I'm looking for some idea on how to modify this 6 inch wake bait to help me catch some more Missouri musky and pike

I need a budget Muskie setup…

I’m looking to go out to catch a Muskie somewhere around the Georgian bay and I need a budget setup because I’m only a beginner at Muskie fishing. Can anyone tell me a good setup up that includes a rod and a baitcaster reel, preferably heavy to extra heavy for casting heavy top waters and such. I was thinking to use the King Kat 11’ rod from bass pro but I’m not sure what reel to pair it with. My budget is $200 (CAD) but I’m all ears to any other setup. Thanks a lot.
