First tapestry

(Technically not the first but the second. The first one was simply a practice thing from a book.)

This one is made from the absolute cheapest cotton yarn I could find. Which is not ideal, but it works for now. Design is fully my own and probably in no way really suited for tapestry haha but it’s going okay so far. I’m having a lot of fun with it!

WIP self designed top

So after two sewing projects using patterns I decided to take the plunge and see if I could get creative. And its been fun tackling various issues without any formal training, just using youtube and the googles. This is what I’ve got so far!

I started drafting a bodice block using hellen Joseph armstrongs book and the ever lovely Closet Historian’s drafting videos. Added bishop sleeves, long cuffs, pointy hem (that was a challenge in terms of hemming……… but I figured something out) and a multi-pointed collar.

Fabric: Cotton Sateen (retro bells) from Mood

Lining fabric: yellow quilting cotton

Interlining is a thinner horsehair fabric (cause i absolutely despise what the fusible stuff did to my top after a single wash cycle)

Buttons: from my local sewing store (had no brand on them)

I hope to finish it this week!
