So after the Ducks locked up Mintyukov today, they still have to make a decision on Carlsson. If they match, they will have roughly 10M left in salary, and still would need to sign Gauthier, as well as some defensemen, as they've lost Zellweger (trade), Gudas (trade), and Trouba (signed with us). I don't think they have the money to do it all and will either have to shed other contacts or lose a 40 goal scorer who is still in their early 20s.

If they don't match, while Verbeek's been great drafting talent, those 4 1st round draft picks do nothing for them now. Plus they will still need to find a new 1C, and maybe rush McQueen's progression to the NHL to help fill the offensive loss.

All this to say, the Pacific may have just become much weaker, especially with VGK having to trade Dorofeyev and EDM still having donkey doodoo in net (along with LA thinking signing every old timer player is a good thing). VAN is still going to rebuild and Calgary, while adding some nice pieces, doesn't have a lot of firepower in their top 6. I think GMMG is just sitting back and giggling at all of this right now. We know he'll get Smith and Celebrini locked up before next off-season, and neither seems like the type to pull a Carlsson and ask for the bank.

So, my question, after all that, where do the Sharks land this year in the Pacific? Do you think our moderately better defense will help us finish 3rd or better?

Whether you are happy or angry with today's results, what's done is done, and we will be cheering on the whole team. Personally, I like the moves for Mush and Trouba. I can live with Nurse, though losing Mukh hurt my soul. But that's not what this post is about.

Day 1 is done. We picked up some RHD to help solidify our defense, which was our biggest need. So what's next? I'm hoping we hear about a Graf signing soon, but other than that, do you think we will make any more moves?

I feel like we might be a bit forward heavy. I wonder if we will trade any of our prospects or one of our lower depth forwards. Do you think Toff will accept a 4th line role? Do you think we buy anyone out (I'd heard Goodies name mentioned at one point)? Where do you think we go from today?

The Blackhawks fans REALLY hate the Sharks. After reading some of y'all's comments in our draft thread about their saltiness, I went and checked it out. The amount of bitterness was insane. They even have an auto mod that says some catchphrase whenever someone writes, "Fuck the Sharks." I mean, don't get me wrong, I've compared our two rebuilds in my head before, but I honestly didn't care that deeply about their team or fans, one way or another.

Apparently, they are REALLY upset about us jumping them for the 2nd overall AND the success of Celebrini. If you do decide to check out their draft thread, please don't be like some of our fans, who felt the need to comment or rub salt in the wound. Don't be that person. So I have to ask: have we ever seen a rivalry so one sided in the hate before?

I bought a card off eBay from ePack. I've done this countless times. Usually the seller either refunds shipping or marks it as free shipping, since they are just transferring it from their acct to mine. Anyways, skip forward to the other day, and I purchased a card where the person had it listed as local pickup. Never seen that used before for ePack, but ok.

After making the purchase, I messaged them my ePack acct info. They then proceed to ask me for the pickup code. I go into ePack, and there is no trade or anything. So I wait. Then the following day, they messaged me on ePack asking for the code. I go to respond, and they messaged me on eBay saying I need to give them the code first. I told them they need to initiate the trade first before I give them the code. They told me they want the code first, to make sure I don't steal the ePack card from them, then initiate a refund on eBay. I told them that they already have my money, so my part of the transaction has been managed, now they need to provide the merchandise before I can give them the code which finalizes the transaction. They eventually acquiesced and initiated the trade, I accepted, confirmed I had the card, then provided them the code.

So, was I in the wrong for telling the seller they had to make the trade before giving the code? I've honestly never done a local pickup (as a buyer or a seller), so I don't know what the transactional process would be. I just went with my gut instinct.

Unless we trade for a legit first pairing RHD, who do you think should get reps at PP1 as the QB? After watching Hutson being a LHD and succeeding with MTL, I really want Dickinson to get a shot. He reminds me a bit of Lane with his ability to drive to the net and sometimes play below the net. I know Warso wanted him to focus on defense more this season, but I'd like them to unleash him a bit. Let's see what he can do offensively.

Obviously Cags might get a shot if he makes the team too, which I'd be cool with too. I think Pohlkamp might start out in the AHL. But I also want both of them to focus on being good defensively more so than worrying about scoring. Dicky deserves a shot to put some points up.

I'm not talking about the untouchables, line Heise, Fast, or Poulin, but other players. I know it's a long shot with her being Captain of the Frost, but I would love to get Kendall Coyne Schofield back in SJ. I loved her as a play by play announcer in her brief time with the Sharks. And she's a tremendous hockey player who could help guide this expansion team.

What about you all? Any players you are hoping for?

Yes, he's my favorite player. Yes what I'm about to say affected one of my recent posts, but that's not what this is about. I get that everyone is excited about our 2OA. And I get that we really need defense and Eky is a proven, young player who could still reach his ceiling and that makes him valuable. But that doesn't mean that people need to go into EVERY post about Eklund and talk about trading him, especially posts that have NOTHING to do with our roster situation.

I don't know if they are trolling or just really that dense to recognize it's not always the right thread to comment about that. Shoot, we have a mega thread where you can go and post to your heart's delight about the subject. And I realize posting this here, will inevitably invite these people here. Oh well. I just needed to say this.

This isn't a trade thread or anything like that. If Toronto does the unthinkable and drafts Stenberg or even Reid, what does the fandom think of McKenna? We know GMMG loves his big boys, and I wonder if McKenna's size deters him from taking him. We already have three slightly smaller players in Celebrini, Smith, and Misa. Taking a 4th would leave our top 6 a bit undersized. Also, we know his two way game, something Warso is big on pushing for, is a bit lacking.

At the same time, does anyone want to see McKenna in our division with a chip on his shoulder that we passed on him? Or worse, does anyone want to see him in our conference paired up with Bedard?

What are your thoughts on him? Is his ceiling worth taking him? Would we see an amazing duo of Misa and McKenna, like our top line? Or is his size and lack of defense something that should worry us?
