Figurines and collectibles feel more social now than ever before, agree?

I’ve been collecting anime figurines and other stuff ever since I was little. Now my dad is one crazy collector too but he tells me that we’re not alike. His is more of like a pretty solitary hobby and mine feels way more social.. Their generation collected stuff to form a personal collection and they rarely showed it off for the world to see. In fact, the only time I ever saw my dad's huge die-cast collection was when I stayed at my Nana's, it just lived quietly in that room.

Now I do the complete opposite and put my collections out there. I truly enjoy the community aspect of collecting now. I have so much fun sharing shelf setups, talking about favorite characters, seeing other people’s collections, and connecting with people who are into the same stuff.   I think the online community aspect is the main draw for me being a social animal unlike my introvert dad. And honestly, getting rewarded for creating content around a hobby I already spend so much time on anyway is a pretty sweet perk. It makes all the effort I already put into collecting, organizing, and sharing my hobby feel even more worthwhile.

Curious about other collectors here… Are you more solitary like my dad or are you a creative like me? And if you do post about your stuff, what is your motivation to do so?
