Storms were rolling through and the sky turned a shade of pink I hadn’t seen before. I grabbed my phone to grab some photos and as it started fading, purple, blue, yellow and pink scattered across the horizon. It was peaceful. Sometimes you just have to stop, go outside and look up. The sky is talkin’.

My goodness, why would Honda design the spindle and stud placement on the hub like this? What should be a 30-45 min job, has turned into a whole can of worms. I took off the left front wheel, brake caliber bracket, left tie rod and then the axle nut and lower ball joint castle nut. Have to remove the hub assy(with press-in bearing) just to replace ONE STUD. Jesus, what a pain in the butt. Oh well, any suggestions? And no I’m not hacking up my spindle and dust shield and stud with a dremel like I saw on YouTube lol.

I had come to the dealership to purchase a door handle chrome cap which broke on my Honda. I told the service department I had one bad wheel stud which was stripped and required replacement. I asked “how much we looking at?” The service advisor proceeded to tell me it will “cost approximately a little over a $1000+ including parts and labor. The wheel stud was like $4, mins you. So, yeah I’m not doing that lol. Here we go! 😁 🫳🏼 🔧

I’m honestly so grateful, to have a dad whose curiosity and grit-kept him advancing his skill sets my entire life. Luckily and happily, he is still here and I’m also grateful to have him in my life, because I’ve had friends and families members whose fathers have passed. It’s gut-wrenching, just thinking of it.

These books are so unique to me, because they feel like a time capsule. A place before google, YouTube, etc. Before the World Wide Web. When something broke or a new project was inbound, he used these books to educate himself and awesomely, DYI’d before DYI was a thing lol. Now, they are mine. I’ve read some and though the hardware and technology in the books is very much dated, the principles and standards still apply. I guess, I’m just a son who admires his dad. He’s the smartest person I know. To all those dads out there(and yes, I am one now as well), keep pursuing knowledge and skills and creativity. Your sons are watching and so darn proud to have a cool dad like you! Cheers! 🍻
