[Asynch] [PbtA Fork] Epitaph: Seas of the Damned

Epitaph is an ocean world colonized during humanity’s darkest era. As Earth and the old colonies collapsed beneath ecological disasters, war, and resource exhaustion, humanity turned toward the abyss in search of survival. Epitaph offered exactly what civilization needed: vast oceans rich with biological resources, rare abyssal minerals, and enough food-producing ecosystems to sustain billions. With little usable land available beyond scattered archipelagos and storm-battered staging zones, humanity adapted to life beneath the waves. Megacorporations financed sprawling underwater cities, industrial trench colonies, floating arcologies, and deep-sea transit networks stretching across the planet’s endless oceans.

For decades Epitaph prospered. Then the Core Expedition descended into the deepest trench system ever discovered on the planet and vanished without explanation. In the months that followed, marine ecosystems across Epitaph began changing at impossible speeds. Predator species turned hyper-aggressive, new organisms emerged from the abyss, and colossal leviathans surfaced from depths once believed uninhabitable. The phenomenon became known as the Eternal Evolution, a process capable of accelerating mutation and adaptation across all forms of life. Some changes benefited humanity through enhanced biology and advanced cybernetic compatibility. Others created horrors lurking in the black waters beyond civilization’s borders.

Now Epitaph exists in a state of constant tension between survival and adaptation. Megacorporations wage covert wars beneath the sea over leviathan harvesting grounds, mutation research, and valuable abyssal resources while scavengers, mercenaries, divers, and hunters carve out lives in the dangerous frontier between civilization and the deep ocean. Entire regions of the planet remain unexplored despite decades of colonization, swallowed by darkness vast enough to conceal ecosystems and creatures beyond human understanding.

TIRED OF STARVING ON A DEAD WORLD?

Come beneath the waves.

Epitaph needs divers, engineers, harvest crews, security personnel, algae workers, salvagers, and industrial operators across its growing underwater cities. Competitive pay. Corporate housing. Guaranteed meals. Opportunity waits in the abyss.

The oceans of Epitaph feed billions. Leviathan resources build the future. The Eternal Evolution continues to create exciting new developments in medicine, industry, and personal enhancement.

There is a place for you beneath the sea.

EPITAPH AWAITS.

Yesterday I made a post gauging interest and it seems people are in fact interested. While personally I've taken a step back from the campaign due to recent issues that does not mean I've given up on it. I am the recruiter, like how the ferryman carries the dead down the river I carry players to campaigns or something idk.

The system should be familiar enough to those experienced with Powered by the Apocalypse type systems (MotW, Dungeon World, Masks, etc). It's simply a fork with an added Ark basebuilding ruleset we plan on playtesting.

As for the GM, her name is Vi and she goes by Eevee over on discord. She'll add you after your application! She may not be the most experienced of GMs but she's a fantastic writer, so among ye who were interested and still are, apply HERE!!!!!!!

[Interest Check] Epitaph

Humanity escaped a dying Earth by building civilization beneath the oceans of Epitaph. Megacorporations raised submerged cities across an endless abyss fueled by leviathan harvesting, deep-sea mining, and the infinite food source known as Abyssal Algae. For decades the planet was humanity’s greatest success.

Now the oceans are changing. Marine life evolves at impossible speeds. Leviathans the size of cities roam the abyss. Megacorporations wage silent wars beneath crushing black water over mutation research and abyssal resources while civilization survives inside pressure domes surrounded by an ocean growing hungrier every year.

Hello all. It me back at it again. I'm currently in the process of working with a friend on running a campaign with a PbtA-style system. The premise can be found above and we're lacking people given that our friends are occupied with life and other campaigns so we're just poking along here to see if there's any interest in an underwater-themed adventure.

We're thinking the campaign's either going to be running your own submarine (we have a framework for rules to do that) or a GTFO style group of mercs exploring the eldritch depths and facilities.

EDIT: This is also a WIP, once the stuff's been proofread and the DM is ready another post will be made.

EDIT 2: Recruitment's up! https://www.reddit.com/r/pbp/comments/1tema7k/asynch_pbta_fork_epitaph_seas_of_the_damned/

Journeying into the Fracture [18+ folks preferred] [ALL ARE WELCOME]

The universe survived by breaking itself.

In the aftermath, reality became the Fracture: isolated regions stitched together by unstable paths where distance collapses, time loops, and the sky drifts with black ash from the corpse of the thing that nearly erased existence itself.

That ash poisons. It mutates. It also sustains.

Forests grow from the carcass of a dead cosmic entity. Beasts born from its remains are hunted for food. Entire civilizations survive through measured contamination, harvesting the very force that destroyed the old world.

Journeys Into the Fracture is a grimdark science-fantasy TTRPG about survival, exploration, mutation, unstable realities, and carving out meaning in a universe held together by scars.

Become a Vagabond.
Cross impossible regions.
Hunt altered horrors.
Harvest the remains of a dead god.
Try not to become part of it.

Hello all~~~~ I'm helping out a friend to get some groups going to playtest her d20 system which has been described as 'Pathfinder and DnD chewed and thrown into the frying pan, cooked, boiled, turned into an abomination that I hope will work'

The campagin for the PbP group will be set in the city of Yuenerth as Vagabonds find themselves gathering around a massive bonefire for the Festival of Renewal where people celebrate yet another year of surviving within the dead god. But you were called there as both participants, but also as guards as there is whispers of a threat wanting to steal the Festival's centerpiece: The Heart of the Woods. It keeps the city safe from threats. Without it, all will crumble.
