Worst shift I had in awhile
In hardware which isn’t where I normally work but just helping out and I got a phone where I couldn’t hear anything. Cashier called me earlier and I could somewhat hear her, but it was like a whisper after but then was pretty much mute when a customer called me 3 times. I couldn’t do anything, 1 call since I could hear call thought it was a dead call, the second one I realized I got a bad phone I think and was stating hello (all I said doing all 3 calls) and wait hoping that like before I could hopefully hear even a little, but it was silent. Third called I wait again and was trying to see which phone I could transfer her to so I could go pick it up but milwork was busy and cashier phone was in use too. I explained to the only service desk what was happening at that time that I’m waiting for the managers to get out of the meeting that was still ongoing (came in 3:20- now it was 5pm and the door still closed) and no phones were on the floor to take (grab the only one from tool rental that didn’t work and then the only one from the HC and that one I couldn’t hear) finally get a phone 5:13 ish cause 2 hr later they get out of the meeting for me to get another phone. I get another call. She called back stating my name (I didn’t once say my name) and lecturing me on my lack of customer service and happy the calls are record as my store manager who she talked to will review them and I explain that I so “sorry my phone *explained situation* but happy a manager was able to help while I had to wait to get a phone that work for calls”. then she goes stating that “her phone is fine and everyone else can hear her” and I corrected saying “miss not your but my phone” she started screaming I interrupted her and I ended the call cause I wasn’t going to sit there through it. The service desk associate told me when she called in the first time she was mad and that likely wouldn’t go well regardless if I could’ve heard her or not. I called a manager to let them know but I couldn’t find the store manager to explain. Am I really going to get in terrible for this cause I the only phone was broken and I couldn’t transfer to anyone. I just want to know how to handle it when I go in tomorrow and they might pull me back for it.
