Fire Danger

I haven’t ridden my bike in about two weeks. My Karoo sat on my desk unplugged. Plugged it in for my weekend rides to charge with the supplied charging cord and a 5V, 2.5A block; two hours later, I came back to the smell of an electrical fire and a melted electrical mess. No moisture, no debris. There should be a product recall.

Regulatory bodies cannot act on a few complaints, but they are legally required to investigate if they receive a sudden surge of identical reports.

If regulators find a pattern of unsafe behavior, they can force a mandatory recall or pressure the company into a "voluntary" recall.

Every affected consumer should immediately file an official report with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) via SaferProducts.gov.

Consumers outside the U.S. should file with their respective national safety bodies, such as the European Commission Safety Gate or the UK's Office for Product Safety and Standards.
