Does a Livetrack link only work if you're riding? Can't review the ride after it's finished?

My old man got my first Livetrack link from my new K3 the other day, he says he can't view anything after the ride had already been finished.

On my old Garmin Livetrack links, people can view the details even after the ride's finished.

Monitor your blood glucose levels on the Hammerhead Karoo

Hi, I have developed an app that allows you to monitor your blood glucose levels while you ride your bike. It runs on the Hammerhead Karoo bike computer. GluKaMon is now out of beta and it's free.  Full description of it on the web site: glukamon.com

Highlights:

  • K2 and K3 Support — Works on both Karoo 2 and Karoo 3 and works over any network connection available (internal SIM chip or tethered to phone)
  • 48 customizable data tiles across eleven categories — Visualize your data how you prefer
  • Four CGM providers supported — Dexcom Share, FreeStyle Libre (via LibreLinkUp), Nightscout, and xDrip/Juggluco (local connection). Nighscout/xDrip support means it works with pretty much any CGM on the market
  • Three time periods — most tile families come in 1-minute, 5-minute, and 15-minute variations
  • Configurable glucose zones — set your own Very Low / Low / Target / High / Very High thresholds
  • Visual and audible notices — when your glucose enters a new zone, with tones tuned to both Karoo 2 and Karoo 3 speakers
  • Dark and light mode — follows your Karoo's system theme automatically
  • mg/dL or mmol/L — pick your preferred unit
  • FIT-file recording — glucose values embedded in your ride file for post-ride analysis in tools like Intervals.icu
  • 10 languages — All 10 Karoo supported languages: English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese
  • Battery-aware design — three polling modes (1 minute5 minutes, or Dynamic, which dynamically adjusts based on the rate at which glucose readings are seen)
  • Robust Recovery — Designed to detect and recover common CGM and network errors
  • "Local" Support — GluKaMon can connect to xDrip and/or Juggluco running either locally on your Android phone (via WiFi hotspot) or sideloaded (i.e. sideload xDrip on your Karoo) so you can monitor your glucose even where there is no internet connection

K3 - Possible to play music (from phone) AND have K3 notifications on the same headphones at the simultaneously?

Picked up the K3 a few days ago, My Pixel Buds Pro 2 support Multipoint (connected to my Pixel 10 Pro and my K3 at the same time), but the audio alerts like radar are not coming through the headphones while I'm listening to Spotify.

I suspect Multipoint only means "connected" to multiple devices, but they can't overlap audio simultaneously.

There's a notification on my phone that says "tap here to switch to the other device for your headphones". I'll have to test that out on my next ride again, even after doing that yesterday, the radar beeps didn't come through the headphones.

Screen issues (k3)

I've been a fan of my K3 - I moved to it from Garmin. I've overlooked the poor battery life and some build issues; in particular, I had to order a new shell to overcome the sticky button situation. I was a little concerned a few weeks ago when Ben Delaney posted a short video/pictures of his screen completely separating mid-ride. And now my screen is showing signs of separation...

I'm going to keep using it for now, but I foresee a return to my 1040.

(The image isn't great - the bottom of the screen looks like it is separating. It's beginning to do the same on the top, just not as bad.)

Waybook – an extension that auto-builds a rich guide of POIs on your route and nearby

Hey everybody, I’ve been building a new extension that I use on my longer trips and coffee rides, releasing it in free beta: Waybookhttps://waybook.cc/karoo

Load a route, tap "build waybook", and it finds the cafés, sights and more around it and writes you a guide you can browse as you ride. Photos, practical info, Google reviews, why a place is worth the stop (e.g. a café run by a former pro: https://waybook.cc/places/girona/hors-categorie )

- Works offline once built. Build it on WiFi at home (faster), or mid-ride over the Hammerhead companion app.

- Nearby mode – real-time search for your next coffee stop ;) in a 4 km ring around you, no route needed

- Every place is drawn on the Karoo map, and you can tap to pull live Google info: reviews, ratings, photos, opening hours.

- Runs as a data field, or open the full app for the richer version.

I’m looking for all feedback!

If you have a Karoo 2, I would love if you really test it out! It should work, but I’ve only ever run this on a Karoo 3.

Lost bikes and profiles after 4 months of inactivity - any solutions?

Hi everyone,

I haven't used my Karoo for about 4 months. When I finally turned it on recently and updated it, I noticed that my authorization tokens had expired (my connected accounts like Strava and Suunto were disconnected). I can understand that part, but the most frustrating thing is that all my Bikes and Profiles have completely disappeared!

Strangely enough, all my paired sensors are still saved on the device.

Has anyone else experienced this issue after a break in using the Karoo? Are there any known solutions, hidden backups, or workarounds to restore the lost bikes and profiles, or am I forced to set up absolutely everything from scratch?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Looking for extension shows position of my family members who we share our locaton with each other via Google Map?

Hello Everyone.

Sorry for my english.

Is there any extension that capable of showing the location of people who I share my location by google map app? Like a POI :D Or someone tried the Google map apk as sideload app?

It would be some much easier (and safer) because we don't have to stop for checking phones. In my family I am the only owner of Karoo, my partner use only his Garmin watch, and I have iphone while he uses Android phones, so the only matching point is Google maps :)

Thank You :)

Wearable with Karoo?

Hi everyone!

Currently running a Karoo 3 with a Polar H10 chest strap for rides, and an Apple Watch for daily metrics (sleep, HRV, etc. I don't wear it while cycling).

I want to ditch the Apple Watch for something screenless, either a band or a ring. Leaning toward Garmin (maybe the Cirqa band), but that would mean also replacing my Karoo with a Garmin head unit to keep everything in one ecosystem.

Is there a way to avoid that? Looking for either:

  • A wearable (band/ring) that plays nice with the Karoo and doesn't lock me into a full ecosystem swap
  • A self-hosted or app-based solution that can pull data from any device (Karoo, HRM, wearable) into one place

Open to self-hosted options too. Anyone solved this?

Resistance modes when following a workout

Does anyone happen to know why the K3 doesn't have resistance and simulation trainer mode options when following a workout (unless I'm missing something?)

I can use the Wahoo app to control the trainer when I want these options, but it would be nice if the Karoo had it!

8-Month Old Paperweight

Went for a ride, Karoo 3 turned on, then black screen and nothing. Was fully charged when I left.

Have tried all of the suggested approaches on "waking" it up, but nothing works. Opened a support ticket yesterday, no response yet. It shows up on my computer as a Bulk USB and lists Qualcomm as the manufacturer, so it must be in some type of processor recovery mode. But I get nothing on the screen - no lights, no flickering, nada.

How long should I anticipate waiting to receive a warranty replacement?

Fire Danger

I haven’t ridden my bike in about two weeks. My Karoo sat on my desk unplugged. Plugged it in for my weekend rides to charge with the supplied charging cord and a 5V, 2.5A block; two hours later, I came back to the smell of an electrical fire and a melted electrical mess. No moisture, no debris. There should be a product recall.

Regulatory bodies cannot act on a few complaints, but they are legally required to investigate if they receive a sudden surge of identical reports.

If regulators find a pattern of unsafe behavior, they can force a mandatory recall or pressure the company into a "voluntary" recall.

Every affected consumer should immediately file an official report with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) via SaferProducts.gov.

Consumers outside the U.S. should file with their respective national safety bodies, such as the European Commission Safety Gate or the UK's Office for Product Safety and Standards.
