Barberfish 4.0

Hey Karoo community,

Six months ago I posted Barberfish v1 here: a 3-column HUD I wanted for my own map page. Your feedback, here, on the Hammerhead forums and on GitHub, carried it through versions 2 and 3: a 4-column HUD, Karoo 2 support, larger fonts, better contrast for every colored field in dark and light mode, bug fixes and 39 datafields in total.

Along the way Barberfish focused on two things: climbing and color. Version 4 pushes both further:

  • Grade map (beta)
Your route on the Karoo's map is colored by grade, as a wide band with chevrons on top showing the direction. You can see the next climb, and how steep it gets, without leaving the map.
  • Barberfish color palette
A new color palette, inspired by Karoo's own, that gives descents their own bands, wherever grades are colored.
  • Route fields for the HUD
Distance, Distance Remaining, Ascent and Descent Remaining, Ride Remaining (distance and climbing left, stacked), and Overview: the whole route's profile, with a dot tracking where you are.
  • Full list of changes

The README has been rewritten as well. The top gives a quick overview of what Barberfish does, and in-depth guides sit behind it for anyone who wants to know how it works.

Download v4. If you already have it installed, update from the Karoo Extensions app.

Thanks for all the feedback so far: it made Barberfish what it is. Keep it coming, especially on the grade map, which is still in beta.
