Has anyone encountered the “runaway train glitch” in RDR1?

I searched the community for this glitch and found plenty of other glitches for the trains in both games but not this one, so I’ll share it here.

As a train fanatic, my teenage self spent a lot of time riding the trains on my PS3 copy of RDR1. However, without warning, I’d occasionally encounter a glitch where one of the 3 trains in the over world would drive faster and not stop for anything, including other trains which it would phase through completely.

Any attempts to jump on this train would see the player collapse and slide back through the train until they were ultimately spilled out on the side of the tracks. Killing the conductor would not stop the train like it normally does, it would just keep going.

I look back on it and wonder how this happened. A flag for the train to stop being broken is one thing but how could it also reach a speed it never reaches otherwise? If the acceleration or speed value suddenly went infinite for some reason, why aren’t I seeing it travel light speed in its circuit? And how could it suddenly fail as a platform?

What do you do with someone who has no positive character witnesses?

I’ve posted here before about the former classmate of mine representing himself in his murder trial. The rest of his immediate family has already either died or disowned him for killing his mom, the only one who would take him in. That said, I wouldn’t be surprised if he had no positive character witnesses unless they were also morally depraved prisoners/junkies. What would you as a lawyer do for such a lost-cause client?

Edit: I know he should’ve gotten a lawyer, he had one but fired him. I can only assume it’s because he’s still got the same garbage attitude and sub 5 IQ he had in k-12. I just want to know what a lawyer would’ve done for him.
