So I started playing this Metroid Prime Origins. I don't understand all the fuss...

Now, don't get me wrong. It's a creative game.

I'm not particularly fond of the art style but it's cute in some regards. Sprites look alright but the environment is trash...

The music and sound effects are pretty good because it's basically Metroid music with a different sound font (very similar to The Messenger. However I'm not in love with it and would rather hear something more similar to Nestroid). And sound effects are mostly from classic Nestroid and some other NES titles.

The map layout is creatively designed but can be a bit confusing since not eveything translates well to 2D.

Boss battles so far are clever interpretations in some aspects, albeit pretty easy overall.

Overall it's an alright experience. I've enjoyed myself.....

But I don't feel like this game is groundbreaking or worth the hype that it's been getting lately.

People are saying that it's better than an official game and is a Top 5 Metroid experience. And I just think that's crazy...

Perosnally, X Fusion, Metroid Planets and AM2R are better experiences in my opinion (at least so far). And I definitely wouldn't replace an official experience with this. (Yeah, maybe Nestroid or RoS in terms of QoL and technological improvements goes.)

One issue I have, button mapping is a cumbersome experience, as there are a lot of button you need to do stuff. For example, Morphball should not have it's own dedicated button. I understand this is Prime made 2D. And I understand why Prime did it that way, but that's just stupid design choice for a 2D game, when all you need to do is press Down twice in all official 2D games. I literally just replaced the Down button with the Morphball button to make things easier.

Also, aiming can be very annoying. If Samus moves past the mouse cursor, she'll turn the opposite direction from where you're heading. And this can be very annoying depending on what's happening like a boss battle or even the size of the window you are using to play can cause issues. And you'll need to adjust. Or you may not be able to react fast enough just because she will always face towards the cursor. And that's greatly inferior to traditional constrols.

Like I said, I'm still early in on this. Just made it to the Magmoor Caverns. But I don't feel this game is a "must play" or a " top 10" or even something I'd recommend anyone. It's just alright.

And this isn't to take a shot at the creators of this game. They clearly worked hard on it. And I'm not saying it's a bad game at all.

It's just something I can take or leave. I don't think anyone who doesn't play this game will be missing out on it.

Lastly, I feel like when these fan games come out, people just use them as opportunities to shit on Nintendo; just because they want another reason to shit on Nintendo. Like, people are praising this game, but if Nintendo were the ones to release this and charged money for it, would it get the same praise?

(We all know the answer to that.... Hell no....)

Anyway, that's not to say Nintendo is perfect or anything. But I would most certainly take Metroid Prime 4 (which has recieved a lot of hate, some would say a lot of undue hate) over this any day.

Well anyway, that's my opinion. It will probably be unpopular because I'm critical, rather than hating on Nintendo some more for not doing what fans do.

What are the best tools to use to combat Bots, A.I. and Spam?

Hello all,

Still pretty new to being a Mod and learning the process. I was wondering what tools are best to fight the ever increasing reach, influence and intrusion of Bots and A.I.

I am aware of some tools already, however, I am apprehensive about granting Full Permission, data being stored outside of reddit, etc; in order to use those.

I was wondering if there were tools that could achieve the goals of creating a community where real people could interact, without sacrificing privacy and safety of the sub itself and user information.

Thanks for the help.
