I feel so stupid. I am a 17-year-old girl still trying to find my way in life. I go to a predominantly black school, and a boy I've been interested in was talking about how he loves natural women with curly hair. I'm not the best-looking girl, so I find myself hiding behind my hair in terms of looks. Last week, I bit the bullet and wore my natural hair to school, and he and his friends absolutely ROASTED me so badly I feel like shit. Without turning around, I could see them pointing at me from the corner of my eye, and my crush, who is a Black man, kept throwing paper at me, calling me "Hey Harriet, I know you see me." OMG, I hate this so much. Why did I let myself fall for this? I feel so low right now.
