How would I maintain this colour?

How would I maintain this colour?

I'm thinking of dying my hair this colour or closer to white and keeping it for about a month or two, but I'm worried it's going to really damage my hair. I have a pretty consistent routine already, but I just wanted to know what the process and maintenance would look like. Especially since I don't intend to keep it for a really long time.

Why do my twist outs come out spiky?

Question in the title but some background info: I’ve had braids in constantly for the past 2 years after cutting my sister locs and i want to start actually taking care of my natural hair. I tried a twist out and although this look isn’t bad it doesn’t look like how other 4c twist outs look. (like down , more like an m? idk how to describe it) I twisted with just leave in conditioner and water and i kept it in for 2 days before taking it out. I separated some but not all.

First attempt. Advise?

Well this is my first try at something like this. I’m wondering how long it takes to be able to do it like the last picture. My hair was blown out and then I put mousse. I think next time I will not blow it out and attempt on natural state.

I really want to master this because I want to wear my hair more but all I know is the blow out state or flat iron, and blowing it out everyday caused me alot of breakage. Also, getting styled like this is like $300 I was shook!

Did my own cornrows

I did cornrows with extensions for the first time all by myself. Lots of suffering and arm pain but the result was worth it. I'm not sure if they look very fresh though

How To Obtain Hairstyle

Firstly, this is NOT my photo, I found it on Pinterest. I love how it looks though! Does anyone know how this hairstyle was done?

Thoughts on my first updo/how to improve?

I normally wear my hair down for the entirety of my natural hair journey, unless I pineapple it to workout. This is the first time I'm trying a real updo, any feedback? Not sure if it can work for something dressy, too. Dressy + casual + hair down for reference. Also any thoughts on the red dress would be appreciated, my friends have not liked the skirt part of the dress

Shrinkage ☺️

I let my 4c hair partially shrink from past tailbone (halfway between tailbone length and the top of my thighs right now) to above my shoulders. My hair is still damp with conditioner in it since I just reverted it a few hours ago, and am I about to detangle it (it is not detangled in these photos, but not completely tangled either 😅) . I think it could shrink a lot more if I let it dry but fully detangling is already going to take a few days. I just wanted to show the length, shrinkage, and what my natural unbothered coils look like. natural shrinkage is beautiful and I am really grateful my hair still shrinks so much after all this time :) I genuinely think I have some of the smallest individual coils I have ever seen in my life. the last picture is my fresh out of the shower ends starting to shrink up, each individual coil can coil completely flat like a coin when given the space (it is time for my trim so if you see a fairy knot it will be guillotined soon, no worries 🦌🗡)

Why are my braids like that?

So, 2 days ago I went to the hairdresser to make my first braids ever, and when the hairdresser finished, she told me that I could keep them for a month. However, it's been only 2 days since I have them and they already look like that. Does anybody has an idea of why are they like this? Should I keep them?

perfected my wash n go

i have tried COUNTLESS products since going natural and yesterday i stumbled upon my holy grail products on accident. camille rose moisture milk and camille rose curl maker are THE BEST! this is with no styling i literally just combed it through. i went to the gym with my little brother and showered at my moms house so i just used what my brother had. he knows ball!

Is my hair healthy enough for length retention?

This past month , I’ve been building a washday and moisturizing routine so i can go from armpit length to brastrap length. Ive never gotten a professional trim (I do it at home every few months), and this is what my hair looks like a month of deep conditioning every week, LCO and twists. Does my hair look damaged? I noticed some hairs sticking out of the shaft and I wasn’t sure if it was normal or breakage.

Diffusing/Haircut Help!

I recently (within the last few weeks) went to get a curly cut and initially, I was excited about finally adding some shape to my hair since it was previously all one length( I had someone at home cut it for me). I previously only did twist-outs for YEARS but I wanted more volume and some layers.

The first image is right after getting my hair cut (it was my first curly cut). But after about 2 weeks, I kept noticing that there were quite a few strands of hair that were missed during my haircut. And I couldn't grasp the shape especially after styling. For example, in the second image, I attempted to diffuse my hair (it didn't come out well lol) but hopefully you can see that my hair doesn't look very uniform. Like the shape I thought I had in the first image is different? I was looking forward to having more of a rounded heart shape with bangs...

I feeI a bit bad because my stylist was very nice, but at the same time, it was pricey... as I said, I've never had a curly cut and didnt know what to expect. The stylist was very experienced with tighter curls/coils and has great reviews. She took a lot of time and care, but after receiving the cut, I feel like maybe blowing out my hair and shaping it myself again :( .

I guess I wasn't sure if if anyone has any advice about maybe diffusing properly or if the cut maybe wasn't it?

Thank you :)

Does my hair look heat damaged to you?

I straightened my hair on 430 and this is what my hair looks like. I would say I right zigzag curls. I’m paranoid because I’ve never used above 390 before. I was wondering why my hair looked to silky and straight 😩.

I know it’s hard to tell from just photos, but does my hair look healthy in general?

Volume reduction advice?

1st pic is right after styling, 2nd pic is later in the day. Let me preface this by saying there is NOTHING wrong with awesome volume!! Personally, it just gives me sensory overload and I get so overstimulated with my hair everywhere. I really wish I could were it down without it expanding 5x within 3 hours of doing it😭 Any tips for me? I mean I’ve tried so many things so I guess I just need to accept that my hair will always be like this, but it would be amazing if there was something I could try I haven’t thought of yet.

Why aren't there more black people who own afro/black hair shops?

I've never understood why more black people don't own afro hair shops. The most successful afro/black hair shops tend to have asian owners and 9/10 they aren't usually helpful at all. Why is that?

I'm asking out of curiosity. This is not a hate post, any biases or hate comments are not welcomed.

Beads

This is our first time installing beads, we are both so excited 🥹 I’m about halfway through. I was wondering if anyone has a good rule of thumb for how many beads might be too heavy for a toddler’s hair. I don’t see any visible pulling or tension, but I wanted to check with those who have more experience just to be safe. Thanks in advance!
