fresh trim & shape!

pic 1 & 2: hair today after trim & shape. pic 3: hair today before. pic 4: hair in April, probably after trim & shape (it looks a bit uneven cos we were trying to balance out a previous bad cut by someone else without losing too much length).

I’ve been wearing my hair out exclusively for 4 months now (in wash & go’s) and I love it here!! I was a bit worried about this trim because of the rhetoric of hair breaking if you leave it out especially in wash & go’s, and hygral fatigue from washing too much. But my lady says my hair is in great shape and she didn’t have to cut too much off! What differences —if any—do you notice visually?

We maintained me natural kinda heart shape fro. Natural who get a shape, what’s your experience of growing it out in that shape?

I fear it may be CCCA. it makes me so sad.

I’ve got my first appointment with a dermatologist this week. Currently experiencing and have done scalp tingling. I just pray there’s treatment and it can be reversed…

Any UK people dealing with this?

People with type 4 hair who’ve washed 2-3x weekly or daily for 1+ years…

What has your experience been?

I have type 4 hair and have been washing 2-3x a week and exclusively wearing wash and goes for 3 months now, and I love it here! I’ve also retained length.

But I’m getting paranoid, waiting for the other shoe is going to drop. Does this routine cause increased friction and wear and tear of the strands? What about hygral fatigue that everyone seems to be talking about?

I need some reassurance lol.

Conditioner only wash & go

I was a bit apprehensive to try this, but I’m so glad I did!

Shampooed with Kitsch Castor Oil shampoo bar.
Conditioned & finger detangled in sections with Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Restorative Conditioner. It works as both a leave in & rinse out.
I left the conditioner in and shook out my hair.
Wrapped it in a microfibre towel to remove excess product.
Shook it out again & did a quick style & weeent!

I’m loving finding more and more simplicity with my hair.

update: day 2 wash & go with the doux’s honey dip gel + sexy crazy curl mousse

or perhaps day 3? what day do you count as day 1 of your wash and go??

It’s been about 28 degrees Celsius, windy, and 45% humidity where I am. I’ve done hot yoga & weights. I’m pretty impressed with how it’s held up. (In case anyone else nerds out about how weather & activity affects their hair 😅.)

I use the scrunchie banding method at night to keep my hair from tangling and has the added benefit of stretching the hair. Picked out my roots with an Afro pick this morning for big hair don’t care vibes.

wash & go with the doux’s honey dip gel + sexy crazy curl mousse

trying this combination again because I couldn’t make up my mind about it (and gotta get through the products), but I really loved it this time around! I think also two months of wash and go’s + washing 2-3x a week means my coils are popping without too much work!

the gel instantly clumped my coils, and the mousse made it easy to detangle/rake my finders through & set my coils.

side note: am I the only one who doesn’t know what to do with their hair when it’s stretched out?? I think I prefer shrinkage…🫢

yeah, gimme coils. every. time.

Defined or undefined, gimme these coils every time, Lord! So thankful to God, honestly. I’ve been wearing my hair out exclusively for two months in wash and goes (which I didn’t think was possible for me up until May lol) and I’m just in love with it and thankful this is my crown. This is what God in His perfect designed deemed most fitting for me. And you know what??? He did His big one!
