This year makes it 2 years that I’ve been an active natural. All I can do is my personal best and hope that God willing everything else falls into place. It literally just occurred to me (it sinked in) that I’m a natural and what that means 😇. I’m going to take myself out to dinner 🍽️ to celebrate this milestone. Hopefully this inspires someone to keep going.

Upon reaching year 30, I made a vow to myself to wear Asha (my hair) out every birthday 🎂🥳 to symbolize that my hair seriously can be worn over and over again in its natural state. That I don’t need extensions to feel special on that day. I do wear extensions sometimes, but my birthday is important to me to wear Asha out in her natural state. This personal new year I went with mini twists. Thank you for reading 📚.

So, like there is the typical half up and half down right? I decided to do that same style with an old braid out for the ponytail and finger coils in the back. It’s not something that usually goes together, but I was like “What the heck? Why not? 🤷🏽‍♀️” The curls on the sides really made for a nice touch in my opinion. I don’t wear slick backs often and when I do I only wear them for ‘bout 2-3 days.

As a Black woman and eldest daughter I never felt safe enough to voice that I’m living multiple realities at once and sometimes it gets to me. I’m also working on accepting that I’m different and that it’s okay. Growing up there was an unspoken understanding that I was different and it made me feel alone even if surrounded by people, family etc. That said nowadays I’m embracing community and self love. 🩷 It’s not easy, but I’m trying. Talk about a last minute hairstyle under pressure 🫠🥴. I went to a sapphic 🏳️‍🌈 party and my hair went
well that night. It was my first time wearing it to an event like that and I proved to myself once again that I can wear Asha to a special occasion.

It’s giving winter in the summer time. A new color 🎨 combination I’m happy I tried. I wore this look to my first sapphic party 🎊 🏳️‍🌈💃🏽and it was a good choice for the night.

As a fine haired, low porosity girlie, this is ultimately life changing. Where on God’s green Earth has this been my entire natural hair journey? I basically have African Pre Poo in my kitchen now. I fear I will not go back to a store bought pre poo for a long periodically time 🤷🏽‍♀️😇🥰. The definition, the slip, the detangle, just chefs kiss. I’m thinking about trying it to style Asha (my hair) I’ll come back much later with an update..

Have you tried flaxseed gel? How do you use it? How long have you been using it if you do use it. I sort of feel like a fool for just now discovering this 😭😫. The important part is I have it now.

I understand that a side part is not much for some. I was very nervous 😬 about stepping out of my comfort zone with this. Plus, I’ve heard👂🏽that having the same middle part isn’t a good thing sometimes and that it’s good to switch it up ⬆️ . Especially with my braid out!? A new level unlocked 🔓 for me. I seriously was not expecting this difference in appearance or fullness, but here I am 🫣😇. I also have fine hair sooo… despite the rep we get I suppose there is hope after all? Don’t get me wrong, this may not be a significant difference. But, a difference nonetheless?
