My buddy says nobody would pay $35 for a custom repair patch on ski gear. Before I waste my summer on this — is he right?

Being upfront: this is half gear question, half "roast my idea."

Last season I caught an edge and cut my brand new pants. Tenacious Tape fixes it, but it looks like I taped a trash bag to my leg. While googling I found NOSO patches — way better looking, but the designs are limited, and they won't do custom unless you order 200+.

So I had the classic shower thought: what if you could get a one-off custom design on an actual repair-grade waterproof patch? Turn the gash into something instead of hiding it.

Told my buddy and he laughed at me: "I'm not paying $35 to fix ski pants. I'd slap tape on it or just live with it."

So before I spend my summer figuring out materials — honest question: last time you tore your shell or pants, what did you actually do? Tape? NOSO? Repair shop? Nothing? And would a custom patch have even crossed your mind, or is this a solution looking for a problem?

Not selling anything (nothing exists yet). Just trying to figure out if my friend saved me from a dumb idea or talked me out of a decent one.
