Why are so many of yall socialists and here?

Big A makes it pretty clear that the humanitarian outcomes of socialist economics have been terrible, and he uses empirical evidence for it. Maduro's reign saw 1 in 5 Venezuelans leave, Cuba's current president openly admits it was a mistake to not pursue market reforms earlier, not one Eastern European nation reverted back to socialism, no Chinese leader post Deng tried to go back to Maoism...etc.

Atrioc makes his affinity for markets open, because they work. Lemonade Stand recently ran a story of how South Africa has descended (under a socialist admin mind you) into roving bands of vigilantes terrorizing immigrants in a hope that it would improve their economic condition, as if 30% unemployment could be the fault of anything other than state policy, socialist policy.

In the UK, the last Labour Party government prior to New Labour had to get an IMF bailout, why is returning to that condition ideal?

Brazil faces unforgiving economics after election

Submission statement, Brazil is going into the twilight of its presidential campaign, with barely a few months to go. However, Brazil's economic concerns remain larger than Bolsonaro or Lula. It currently faces high real interest rates, a weak currency, a budget deficit of 8.5% of GDP and a public debt of over 80%. It is worth discussing how this circumstance can, should, and will likely be addressed by the two likely presidents of Brazil for the next few years.

Is anyone else worried about re-creating the license Raj with AI?

In India, from its independence up until the 90s, and partially still today, economic policy dubbed "the license Raj" which sought among other things, autarky, minimal unemployment, and state control dominated India. This policy was built upon state planning and high regulatory burdens that limited companies ability to hire, fire, buy machinery, move equipment, use equipment, import materials, and export products. It objectively failed and continues to do so given India stubbornly high poverty rates and economic stagnation. Core to this plan was the limiting of technological replacement of workers. I believe as it was with industrial equipment, it will now be with AI. An abuse of state power over the economy to prevent change.

What are your thoughts on the recent news out of Nicaragua where Bernie Sanders endorsed autocrat, Daniel Ortega, has suspended elections indefinitely?

It reads clear as day, Cuba's ability to spread tyranny throughout LATAM should be thwarted, for this is the outcome. In the last ten years, we have seen Cuban backed coups in Venezuela and Nicaragua with failed attempts in Bolivia, Honduras, and most recently Colombia to have Cuban backed leaders overturn elections. In my view, the economic actions against Cuba are a moral necessity, just as it was against the USSR.

Why are so many people hostile to privatizing social security?

A pension system built 100 years ago, when age correlated with poverty instead of wealth as it does now, is holding us back and literally bankrupting us. Why is privatizing it, and forcing its adherents to live in the same economic reality as the rest of us so bad?

4 years ago you bested the President who humiliated you...and now you are in a Pandora's box of hell.

In the 2016 race there are four contenders. Rand Paul 2012 R, you, desperately hoping democrats nominate you, Bernie Sanders and his merry band of leftists, and Rick Santorum Conversationalists
