Still a viable living in MA?

To all active estheticians!

I’d love to hear about how you’re doing in this industry, specifically in eastern Massachusetts! I am new to esthetics and am looking to go into a program this fall. I have worked in the food industry the majority of my working career so working hard and building clientele/reputation isn’t new to me.

Im concerned that I’ll spend all my time and money on this education just to become another side hustle that goes awry. I’m not expecting this to be an easy task to be successful but I do want to make an liveable wage without having to work three jobs. I know the economy is not in the best place but I’m hoping it will get better.

New workers, I’d love to hear about how you’re liking the job and what you’ve been doing to combat the negative side of things and how you’re moving forward. Old workers, I’d love to hear your trade secrets and how you handle the changes of the economy.

I’d love to hear from you!

Is it more beneficial to do an advanced program or is basic fine?

Hi all!

So I’m 26, living in south Massachusetts trying to change careers and learn a trade. I’ve been looking into different programs to get my license and would like to learn as much as possible to be better qualified/prepared when I go into the industry.

Some of the “advanced” programs offer lash lifts, chemical peels, reflexology, laser treatments, to name a few. I’m assuming I’ll need additional certifications to do these services but I’m not 100% sure.

For reference the “basic” program is at a trade school that doesn’t mention all their coursework, however it is accredited. For cost differences, the “basic” is 9k and the “advanced” programs ranges from 14k-17k.

If it is all going to be the same I’d love to know so I don’t waste time and money (but willing to get a good education regardless), please share your wisdom✨✨

I’m 26 and have a BFA in animation but with the job industry I’m not able to get a job in the industry. I ended up starting a small art business last year, going to markets and now anime conventions.

To supplement my income I’ve been serving and teaching art lessons online. I’m so tired of working so many jobs so I’m looking into jobs that could give me a bit more security. I can’t afford a 4 year tuition however. I could probably get a graphic design job if I make a portfolio for it, although not that good at graphic design😅 Although working remotely is appealing.

I’d love some options!
