Help, what shape can I achieve with my brows that have a bald spot?

Help, what shape can I achieve with my brows that have a bald spot?

Sorry for the closeup on my pores, for some reason Reddit didn't accept the more cropped pictures.

The bald spot on my left (right one in the picture) eyebrow is an actual spot without hair. I can't place other hair over it, it doesn't stay and anyway my end goal is to have decent enough brows that I don't have to style in the mornings.

From testing eyebrow shapes with apps most shapes fit me, I don't mind going thinner with them either. I just want something easy that looks more well kept than what I naturally have.

Any ideas on what shape I can achieve with this? Feel free to draw over my picture of it helps to explain

PS: I don't have a giant forehead it's just my headband pushing my hair away from it

Advice

Hi!! Got my first lash lift and tint- the eye on the left is perfect, super happy with the results. There is a noticeable lift on the other eye but they look so asymmetrical. Is it normal for one eye not to take as well? Will it settle out and look less noticeable? Should I contact my lash tech and ask if she can touch it up? Would you charge for that?

Thanks!!

How to prep to get a professional wax?

I’m not worried about the pain as I have waxed my legs at home before but obviously I always miss spots and make a mess 😂 I guess I’m nervous for my first professional wax as I am a HAIRY GORL 😂😭 and my husband is the only person who sees my body hair. Anyways we are going on vacation and I scheduled a profesional wax, I’m assuming deodorant can make the hair slippery and I know the hair is supposed to be completely dry… I’m worried about being sweaty or smelly 😩 I know you’re meant to exfoliate a few days before but I’m clueless as far as after care and what they might expect or prefer in a salon setting. My husband tells me not to be embarrassed as that’s their job and they see body hair every day but sheesh I got squatch legs 😅 For reference full legs, bikini, pits and brows. (Not worried about the brows at all haha)

wax recommendation

I am planning to get bush balm hard wax for all body/face waxing and i was planning to use it on brows because when i used satin smooth ultra sensitive zinc soft wax a few months ago on my boyfriend, skin lifted. i used muslin strips which i never used before. so that just scared me away from using soft wax on clients but i feel like i have to. bc using hard wax is such a pain for eyebrows (when ive done it on myself) and its not as crisp.

is the muslin strip the main culprit of the lifting because it adhears too much compared to non-woven?

do you guys like bush balm for body? and what soft wax would you recommend for brows?

Client is already a nightmare even before booking - how should I handle this? Screenshots included.

UPDATE: I sent a firm (but professional) message basically saying that due to the nature of our past conversations, I’m not the right fit for her. She had the nerve to say “Wow ok. Take care. Thanks I actually agree bc of your attitude & response” LMAOOOOOO. I hearted her message and then blocked her. What a huge weight lifted off my shoulders! Thank you to all of you for backing me up. I knew from the start she was trying to dodge paying any deposit. Hooray for setting boundaries!!! And yeah, I totally thought I scratched out her name in the screenshots, haha.

Let’s call this client Mandy. For background, I know Mandy from 2017 when I used to work at a cosmetics store while she was a brand rep that I saw occasionally. Long story short, her work ethic was SOOOOO horrible that my store manager requested Mandy’s manager for Mandy to never visit again. Mandy also has the reputation of being an opportunist and lazy worker. I wasn’t really active on social media, but we followed each other. Besides that, I never had a friendship with her. She also steals photos from other MUAs to claim as her own 🤮 I just never got the best vibes from her!

October 2024, I opened my own business. At some point maybe in early February 2025, I got a voicemail on my business phone (later learning it was Mandy) asking about booking services. Called her back and she kept asking if I remember her, saying how we used to work together, telling me she wants to book a Brazilian, asking if I can make special accommodations for her Brazilian (like using steam on her for 10 mins before waxing), asking which products I use, etc etc. I pretended like I didn’t remember her and just politely pointed her to book on the website because at the time, I required deposits and she was sketchy so I rather her go through the website to fill out the waiver/pay deposits.

Since that phone call, I’ve attached screenshots of interactions between February 2025-May 2025. Clearly, you can see something’s not right. After May 2025, I blocked her on social media. She hasn’t reached out for a year. I didn’t wanna block her number because I was afraid about retaliation from her if she finds out I blocked her number. I changed my booking process at one point and no longer require deposits, but never had issues with sketchy clients.

I thought about replying “Deposits are not required at this time. However due to the previous nature of our interactions from 2025, I am not your ideal service provider. I wish you the best in finding the right provider for your needs!” And finally block her number. But I’m worried she’ll be crazy enough to weasel her way in my booking site because since shes never booked before, she doesn’t have a client profile. I can’t block a profile that doesn’t yet exist!

IM STUCK, what should I do? She’s never booked with me yet but I can already tell she’ll be a problem. Do I tell this client that I don’t believe I am the right service provider for her or do I keep hoping she never goes through with booking? Do I just ghost & block?

Edit: I sorta forgot to cross out her name in two of the screenshots lol

Practical interview, advice needed

I have a practical interview tomorrow at massage envy for the esthetician position. I have no prior spa experience, only experience with makeup and beauty retail using my esthetician license . Any advice would be helpful! I am so nervous. I recently did an interview and practical at a hotel spa. The interviewer loved me , loved my answers to the questions. and loved my facial. Her only feed back was I could’ve added more pressure to the neck massage. At the end of the day, they chose someone with more experience than me. So I just feel a little down. What are tips /tricks I should know!! Thanks in advance.

Seeking stories from happy/successful estheticians

I am currently enrolled to start esthetician school in September and very much looking forward to it.

Now that I'm on reddit, I'm seeing so much negativity, complaining, people saying they wasted their time on this career. I understand everything takes time. I don't expect to be up and running day one but I am very optimistic and excited about my future in this. I even want to take advanced education in microneedling/lasers etc. (You can legally do that in NJ under the supervision of a doctor.)

I mean... I packed up my things with all of $400 in my bank account and moved to Nashville for 7 years to pursue music. I've been back in NJ 4 years now, and I've been a successful full-time musician for 6 years. I do all my own booking, marketing, social media, etc. I just turned 35 and thank god I never listened to all the people who told me it was silly and "it's hard/it's rare/you're probably not gonna make it."

I'm just looking to add another business to my plate in addition to music. Any esthi's who are happy and successful, and make good money able to chime in? Thank you. ❤️

Taking clients as an esthetician student

Hello friends! So I’m in school right now working toward getting my license. My hours at my current job were cut significantly and although I am applying for another job, it could be a while until I land something given how difficult the job market is at the moment. Point is, I need to make money. I’m wondering if anyone here has taken clients and charged for the service while still in school. I know that it’s risky. However I am desperately and need to find a source of income while I can land something else. I am based in California for context. I do want to own my own business at one point so this could help building clientele. I’m just scared and would probably have to be low key. Any advice?

Constructive criticism wanted: Brow lamination + tint result on a client

Licensed esthetician here looking for honest feedback on this brow lamination + tint result (before/after attached).

I’m trying to refine my technique and would genuinely appreciate constructive criticism from artists or clients who get brow services.

A few things I’d love feedback on:

• Brow shape and balance

• Hair direction/lamination styling

• Tint depth — too dark or just right?

• Does it feel natural or too laminated?

• Anything you would adjust?

Please be honest. I’m posting to learn, not to promote.

Extra money?

I’m a lash artist (9+years). I also offer brow/facial waxing. I do lifts/lamis as well. I am in an affluent area but it’s definitely over saturated. This last year has been my slowest year yet (I’ve lost the most clients I have this year due to “spending cuts” in all of their lives) and I’m struggling to make ends meet. What are some ways I can create additional income?

To go Solo or not?

Despite being a LE for many years (18) and having a good client base..I'm still chicken to go out on my own..

I worry if I am in a secluded space, that I'll have a difficult time attracting new clients.

What methods work best for you lucky ladies that have succeeded on your own?

Any anyone had luck w Groupon?

Should I be concerned about this?

I recently got a chemical peel and everything went great initially. I'm on day two now and I noticed a discolored patch of skin that looks more melanated than the rest of my skin. I'm really discouraged now. I've never had this experience with a chemical peel before. I've been to this place before and everything went fine that time. This time the esthetician was different, and I noticed she didn't ask as many questions. I don't know if this is a normal reaction for a deeper peel, or if something went wrong, and now I'm worried. I have a picture if needed.

Full body waxers

What are we telling our clients when they bring up the at home laser hair removal. Someone just told me Costco is selling them!! Wtf. I’m concerned this is going to destroy my business one day. I’m aware gray and red hair does not work on it. Has anyone heard how the results are? Is it something you are worried about?? Thanks in advance!!
