Thoughts on the new parking update?

I kinda just wanna rant about SFU parking in general cause it actually pisses me off. I’ve been buying parking permits for the past 3 semesters and I still find it ridiculous how expensive it is ($336 per semester ?!?!). We pay thousands in tuition and somehow parking ain’t included. On top of this, I want to hear other peoples perspectives on this new parking update for the upcoming semester regarding dedicated areas for permit parking and separate areas for visitors. I think we all know that the beginning of the fall and spring semester is living hell when it comes to parking during peak hours. I remember I’d be circling the lots for so long to the point where I’ve missed classes. Do you guys think these designated areas will fix or improve anything ?

Looking for someone to share a parking permit with :)

Hellooo

I’m looking to share a parking permit with someone for the upcoming fall semester. I’ve been buying permits for the last 2 semesters but $336 is kinda pricey now + my parents aren’t willing to split the cost with me anymore. I only ever park in the east lot and I’ve uploaded my schedule. I’ll be dropping chem 121 once I get off the waitlist for bisc. **** PLEASE SERIOUS INQUIRIES ONLY. IVE HAD TO REPOST THIS AS MANY PEOPLE KEPT GHOSTING ME 😭😭

Looking for someone to share a parking permit with :)

Hellooo

I’m looking for someone to share a parking permit with for the upcoming fall semester. I’ve been purchasing permits for myself for the last 2 semesters but $336 is honestly bit much for me now as my parents aren’t willing to split the cost with me no more. I’ve included my schedule (I’m on burnaby campus) and have scribbled out the classes that I am dropping soon. Please let me know if anyone is interested in splitting with me !! Thank youuu :)))

stories from former grads regarding univeristy acceptances

hello!! i am an upcoming second year student at sfu and lately on reddit, ive been reading alot of current grade 12s acceptances to university and experiences and stories, and it def had me thinking about my own university application journey and want to hear about other ppls journeys aswell.

i was grad class of 2025 and during high school, my ultimate end goal was to attend ubc sci, it was my dream school. this meant i was an absolute sweat - did every extracurricular you could think of and eventually got really good roles in non profits and clubs etc. on top of that, i was trying my absolute best to keep my grades up. once senior year rolled around, thats when university apps started. by that time, i had abt a 91% average and had rlly strong extracurricular activities that demonstrated commitment and was showed variety of different skills (few of my strongest activities were president of my schools pre med club, executive coordinator for a npo, and a founder of an npo) which i worked rlly hard for throughout high school to get these roles. i knew my 91 average was a bit low for science but i thought my activities would carry me.

i eventually submit my ubc app and waited very very long for a final decision as i was waitlisted for a while. may rolls around and i get results for both programs of my choice and i get rejected from both. it was the worst feeling ever....like worse than getting your heartbroken. i felt defeated and all my hard work went to waste.

what hurt me and confused me even more is how other people in my grad class with lower averages and less impressive activities than me got in with no problem. what pissed me off even more is that i worked very hard all by myself to get alot of my executive roles in my activities and these ppl with less impressive activities or same roles as me, they literally had their roles hand feeded to them through friends which makes it so much easier for them. even vice versa, ive had friends with 95+ averages and crazy ec's, and they were somehow rejected from ubc....but ppl with worse apps got it....genuinely so fucked

although ive learned to accept my rejection and am okay now at sfu, i still wonder what the ubc admission officers are thinking and how they sort all these apps.

former grads, please share your stories that are similar to mine !!
